On the last day of our holidays in Anglesey we stumbled on this place. I had no knowledge of it being an old copper mine and I can't understand why the Welsh Tourist Board doesn't make more capital out of it. It was a sunny day when we visited and the colours of Perys Mountail were incredible. It reminded me of a poor man's Grand Canyon. Amazing.

This is such an interesting area with much to offer those interested in industrial archaeology, geology, history, nature and the great outdoors. We had a sunny day but I imagine if it is wet the colours may be even more vibrant. My daughter commented what a great site for a film set.The walking is not particularly demanding - we did the 2 hour walk but that takes in stopping and exploring the sites.

We visited on an overcast morning not long after a short spell of rain so the colours of the mineral deposits didn't really make the impact that they seem have done on others. The 'Martian' landscape was very unusual and a little later when the sun peeped out from behind a cloud it took on a whole new persona. To imagine the industry that took place here with the mining of the copper makes the mind boggle. On a very sunny day and with the heather in bloom it could make a real impact. Very interesting to visit when in the area. Make sure that you take your bearings as it can be a bit disconcerting to try to find the car park from the depths of the spoil hills.

Interesting and unique landscape and was bathed in a dusk light when we walked there, quite exposed so use cover up well if it is sunny. Got some great photos.

Parys mountain just outside Amlwch on Anglesey is amazing. It's an old copper mine, the colours from the excavated mines are incredible. All different hues. There are some of the old mine buildings left and the view from the top is beautiful. It really is like being on another planet, and well worth a visit.
