I am embarrassed that I have not publicly praised the food and service at Hazel's hotel restaurant before, having dined here several times over fifteen years. Popular restaurants can become complacent - not here. The menu reads traditional but the subtlety of flavours, combinations and presentation reveal a kitchen dedicated to quality local produce creatively transformed into excellent dishes served by courteous and knowledgeable staff (Debbie). There is an "early bird" menu of wonderful value (the braised beef was a gem). The house red wine was beyond the quality one would expect at these prices. Do leave room for the cleverly chosen cheese board. On my second night in this delightful old town, which has several other quality restaurants, I had to return!
