19 members of the family arrived at various times on Friday 29th September to celebrate Mum's 97th birthday. The group included daughters, son, grandchildren, great grandchildren, two friends and dog., ages ranged from 5yrs to 97yrs. What an ideal location, it was fantastic. Everything in the house is top quality, beautifully presented to make it warm, cosy and comfortable. We received a great welcome with a delicious jam and cream sponge cake and a goody basket containing tea, coffee, fresh eggs and raspberry gin and a big basket of baking apples - wow, what a lovely surprise. The weather wasn't very good while we were there but it is in such a lovely setting with the beach, the walks, children's activities, games room and hot tub that it didn't matter. Some were in the hot tub at midnight having a great time!! We have been away together a few times staying in large houses that have been great but the overall opinion was that Llanlliana is by far the best. CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN.
We had the most fabulous weekend in this amazing house. 17 adults and 2 toddlers all celebrating two 70th birthdays and one 40th. We've never stayed in such a well equipped house, it's really well thought through and the standard of the decoration, furniture and fittings is 5 star. Comfortable beds and invigorating showers and the hot tub was a huge bonus even at night!!
The location was brilliant with lots of space outdoors and walks down to the sea and clifftop walks for the more energetic. There was a great welcome hamper with a beautiful Victoria sponge cake, bottle of raspberry gin and tin of Celebrations and Dan gave us a lovely warm personal welcome too. He turned up one day with some foraged mushrooms! Can't recommend this place highly enough!
We could not have chosen a better location to celebrate our Ruby wedding! We two grandparents, our five children with their spouses/partners and 9 grandchildren from 0-6 years had the most amazing week. Llanlliana was perfect for the children to explore the massive garden and play area on their own, the little cove was a huge hit, the hot tub was an absolute winner, the walks from the doorstep along the coast were stunning (spotted the elusive chough), crabbing was a must! Foraged for blackberries and gathered sloes to take home! Then the house, wow what a house! Plenty of space for all to play, find somewhere quiet, cook in the vast kitchen (with herbs from the garden) relax on the patio, BBQ in the sunset, ...what more can I say! Oh, and the welcome basket of goodies and amazing cake after a 36 hour journey! Will we be back? If at all possible, YES!
When we booked Llanlliana for a family celebration we thought it was a little expensive but in truth we got full value for our money, it is definitely five star. The accommodation for our family of 2 grandparents, four children and their wives and 11 granchildren ranging from 21 to 4 years old was excellent. The vast grounds were utilised for all sorts of games - cricket, football, badminton, rounders and we even tried our hand at croquet. The younger ones made full use of the swings and tractors and the hot tub is a must addition to anyone's stay. The cliff walks with their stunning views are spectacular and tiring. A trip to the beach in the evening to see the sunset was a must for us each day. In short, a wonderful time was had by all.
It's simply an amazing house in a stunning location. We filled it with friends, dogs and a couple of babies and had such a superb week. All the rooms were stylish and comfortable, the hot tub was lots of fun and the views are breathtaking.
I'd recommend it to anyone for nice slow time with the people you love. The owners were great and their young sons sell wild garlic butter that they make themselves. Make sure you get some!
NB, Avoid the pub called Ye Olde Vigour in Camaes bay. The owner is incredibly odd and very rude. The only bad thing in an incredible week.
In short words cannot describe how amazing this house and location is. With Canadian family visiting and celebrating a golden wedding anniversary we spent 4 beautiful and perfect days exploring the stunning coastline and generally relaxing! The house was equipped with everything we needed and the added extras of games and dvd's kept the children entertained! Even with 23 people staying the spacious property never felt overcrowded. The owners were better than hospitable and very accommodating. A walk to Cemaes Bay is recommended and breath taking and the local Bull Bay Golf Course provides a challenging but stunning golfing opportunity. Any opportunity to return will be taken and the drop of a hat!
This is a difficult review to write as I am finding it challenging to express in words how amazing Llanlliana is as it exceeded our expectations in all respects, not least of all the simply stunning location which pictures and videos can't do justice to, you need to be there to appreciate how beautiful and peaceful it is.
We had a family party of 16 people from 7 to 70 and everyone absolutely loved our week in Llanlliana, we all agree this is the best large house we have stayed in as a family (annual event!).
The house has been renovated to an extremely high standard, everything has been carefully thought about, the attention to detail is noticeable in every room. The house layout is perfect, the décor and furniture is beautiful, the beds are big and very comfortable, plenty of wardrobe space and draws and beautiful en-suite bathrooms in most rooms. The debates over who gets the best room are irrelevant because every room is simply stunning. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need for large groups and more besides. The dining room is huge and with a serving hatch to the kitchen is ideal for large groups to gather for meals.
We had fabulous, hot sunny weather for a few days of our week stay so we were sunbathing outside on the terrace at 7am, it felt like we were abroad! The walks around the house take in some truly stunning scenery, we spotted porpoises several times as we walked along the cliffs area. Two braver, fitter members of our party kayaked from the very beautiful fishing village of Cemaes Bay to the cove at Llanlliana (don’t attempt this without seeking advice first as can be dangerous!) and we spent an afternoon on the harbour wall at Cemaes Bay fishing and crabbing which was great fun. Of course no review of Llanlliana would be complete without mentioning the hot tub. A couple of nights we had completely clear weather and no moon, so we were sat in darkness in the hot tub on the terrace at midnight and we could clearly see the milky way and lots of shooting stars. An experience we will never forget.
Thank you to Dan and the boys and Lynne for a very warm welcome and please tell the boys that the garlic flavoured butters went down a treat, absolutely delicious! We hope we will have the privilege of returning to Llanlliana again in the future.
