Incredibly friendly landlord with great deaf awareness - couldn’t do enough for us and any other customers. Bar staff are fab! Advised we could bring chips in etc for something to eat- supplies forks and sauces!
Decorated rather quirky and ‘old fashioned’ with lights dropped around the seating areas. Really is the best pub in the town!
Came for the weekend & we came here every night - can’t go wrong!

A large bunch of us popped in during a golfing weekend in May. The atmosphere was good, and the guest beer was great. Nice and relaxing in the back, with a pool table and a large picture of Chewbacca!

Will definitely go back.

We visited earlier this year but have failed to get around to writing this, delayed, report which I feel I have to do.

It was packed with a 'party' of what seemed to be very 'happy' students who weren't the tidiest, so we went out to the garden, where we used to spend many happy hours, in the past, with great anticipation. This, sadly, has become a tip. The hedges and the greenery were trimmed back to the point of destruction and there had been so many tables introduced that it made it feel positively claustrophobic: even without the customers!

I felt sorry for the new landlady who'd recently taken over because the place had gone downhill; the saving grace of this place was the garden which was glorious in its prime but this time it was a barren mess, with no atmosphere whatsoever.

I have to say that, by the time we went back into the pub, the students had gone; the landlady had worked miracles and made the whole place look spic and span. Thoroughly professional.

Gone also were the classic ciders, which was another of our reasons for visiting: along with the garden, so because the garden and the cider have gone: so will we unfortunately.

The 'Landlady' you are speaking of was with the same Geniuses that decided to hack back the garden and put up the prices and to be frank send the Auckland into its state of disrepair...
Not to fear,
I have now returned for a 3rd time!!
yes 3rd time back in the Auckland!! here to put things back in order, the scrubbing has not stopped, nor have the repairs we are open and clean. The beer cider and spirit selection will once again astound with many craft cocktails to boot.
we opened the doors again last friday and was very well received with a sigh of relief by many of the locals and regulars...
we look forward to seeing you in the future

We visit the Auckland Arms 4 times a year and always have excellent service throughout our stay.
Aidy and the team are always friendly and helpful especially when it comes to the fabulous drink selection.
Thanks again to all and again it was great to catch up with friends we have made over the years.
See you soon and keep up the excellent work.
