“Lovely family weekend”
Reviewed 2 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

My family and I had a lovely short break at Hilltop. When pulling into the drive I was a little concerned - as previous reports have said the outside does need a little TLC but that really didn't bother us as the inside was just fine for whatever at we needed. We were a party of 7 and there was plenty of space with a separate lounge for the children. The beach was a short walk and the house had a very large garden for the kids. A critical eye of mine said there is some work to be done but it suited us just fine - a well equipped kitchen and a lovely fire to sit around on a cooler night. We will return.

“Needs serious TLC”
Reviewed 12 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Had a week here end of July beginning of August, whilst in a lovely location , the house is in need of some kind of upkeep. Carpets were rather stained especially in the bathroom downstairs, smell of damp and just lacks some TLC. Outside (there are no photographs on any website) is not good, weeds growing up the walls and in dire need of painting. Previous reviews are all quite a few years old, then it would have been delightful, but has now been neglected which is a shame. Crockery chipped and nothing matching, velux windows all mouldy in the upstairs bathroom. I also thingk the cleaners need to be a bit more vigilant, cobwebs behind the sofa in the top lounge. Generally needs some money spending on it to bring it back to its former glory.

Management Response
20 Aug 2016
From the dates of the reviews we have they are not all years old and we receive very few complaints.
We appreciate reviews and take on board your comments. There is some work planned on the house over the closed season. The cleaners will be informed of your comments.

“Slice of Cosy Heaven”
Reviewed 20 July 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We stayed back in April with family, 4 adults and 1 child.

The house is an brilliant position, with stunning high views of the surrounding areas, including views all the way to the coast line, the gardens are huge, big enough for a bit of cricket...

The house has everything you need, infact it has more than you need!, the rooms are really spacious and the bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious, especially the large deep bath... nice for those cosy nights...

Unfortunatley we had bad weather, but with the space of this house and the warm cosey fire it was a really nice relaxing stay...

The kitchen is well equipped for any meal type and there is plenty of entertainment in the rear living room for our child...

There is plenty of walks near by, and the local eateries are excellent...

As a keen photographer it was a great spot to get some good wildlife shoots as well as night sky photography...

Highly recommend a stay here, we will defintely be booking again.

“Urgently In need of some TLC”

We stayed here for a long weekend and thanks to the predominantly good weather and location had a lovely weekend. Disappointingly there was a major damp problem- visible damp on walls particularly master bedroom; strong damp smell which remained for the entire stay despite airing the property; water stained carpets; a 'carpet of mould' on childrens' games, unclean cupboard in kitchen and a leak in conservatory roof so much so a bowl had to be positioned to collect the water. After receiving our feedback the owner agreed he would check this when he next goes in the summer - what a shame there is no urgencyabout this. We had visited this property 4 years ago and the decline in the condition of the property really is sad to see.

“Excellent family accommodation in a quiet spot”
Reviewed 20 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Enjoyed a long weekend with my family celebrating a birthday. The house was well appointed and large enough for 6 adults and 2 toddlers. It's located in a quiet position at the top of a hill which makes it private and safe for young children. My grandsons enjoyed exploring the large garden which had fantastic views over the bay and countryside. There are great walks to the beach and a fantastic restaurant nearby called The White Eagle.
The house benefits from having a second lounge and a conservatory which is great to sit in late afternoon when the sun is beating down.
I would definitely recommend for a large group or family and hope to return in the future.

“Fabulous family accommodation for a great holiday.”
Reviewed 26 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

The house was great but the garden was even better. My grandson must have run miles in the extensive grounds. The weather wasn't brilliant but that didn't spoil the holiday. Would all love to revisit.
