Another enjoyable stay at Ingledene! This B&B has a fantastic location immediately opposite the beach with views across the sands and the bay, is very comfortable and the breakfasts are excellent. It's a traditional English B&B in the best sense!

My husband and I stayed here in 2010 and decided to return for one night in December 2012 before Xmas with my father.

The positives are that that Shirley & her husband are nice people and the location provides beautiful views; we had the large double bedroom with the bay window and the dining room also has a nice view point from the window (my Fathers room had no view). The bedrooms are good sizes.

However this time we found it to be quite cold in the rooms, we really didn't find their heaters sufficient for the time of year (none of us liked the plug-in heaters!). The rooms are quite old fashioned, it felt like there was alot of "clutter" (even in the dining room), the TVs are old fashioned (we had to figure out how to turn them on). The TV in my fathers room was placed in a weird location, making it impossible to sit in bed whilst watching it, perhaps the idea is to watch it from the chair, however it was too cold to want to do that and anyhow most people enjoy watching TV from bed when staying in a B&B.

The breakfast was ok (wasn't very hot). Unfortunately my Father did not really value the experience. As much as we found the hosts and location to be nice, we have to take into account the whole experience, including the prices of the rooms (£70 for a double, £40 for the single), so unfortunately we didn't enjoy it as much as we had hoped.

Room Tip: The bay room has a nice view but due to its large size and it being so cold out, we found the room t...

We have been visiting Shirley and Richard twice a year for more years than we can remember, it must be 15 or 16 now, in fact we were their first paying guests when they opened for business, from our very first visit we were welcomed into their lovely 'family home' nothing has ever been too much trouble, the breakfasts are superb, with local and homemade produce, enough to fill you up until dinnertime, the rooms are warm, cosy and spotlessly clean, you are not expected to 'vacate' your room during the day if you don't wish to, and many times we have been quite happy to spend the day just watching life drift slowly by with absolutely magnificent views. We have long called it our second home and after all of our visits we return to the 'real world' completely relaxed, restored and our next visit already booked well in advance. Long may we be able to continue our trips to Ingledene and the Murphy family who we now count as our friends. Denny and Bob Wolverhampton

We stayed here in September, lovely place, good breakfasts, The view from the windows was fantastic. Lovely people very helpfull, the only fault was the bed, could do with a new extra large new one as this was far to small for us and very uncomfortable, did not sleep well at all.

This was a real last minute booking and we managed to nab the only availablility left in August. Very pleased! Owners were very hospitable, with lots of tips of places to go. Stayed for 3 nights with our 8 year old. Lovely views to front and back of beach and mountains. The clean, sandy beach is only a stones throw away so you can get down there early for games of cricket/football etc and pop back whenever you need to. The breakfasts were a treat with homemade bread and local produce. Room and ensuite were really clean and comfy but were dated with an eclectic mix of furniture but the advantages more than made up for this. Would go back again.

The situation is fabulous. The hosts truly lovely. The rooms are very tired and all over the place design wise. But the welcome and situation makes you forgive that.

My first night I got back I my room all I could hear was the thump of music from upstairs. It was turned down at midnight but still noisy for a while longer. Sometimes other hotel guests are inconsiderate. It happens. But I was gobsmacked to discover it was the owner's son. I was told he had been away for a week and had some friends over. And also that I was lucky he hadn't been playing pool as you can hear the balls rolling around. Apparently therefore I was lucky as it could have been worse !

It is absolutely ridiculous that he is that inconsiderate to his parents livelihood. Especially as (I am guessing) it is a relatively short season so he doesn't have to be considerate that long.

The second night was fine - no noise. Showed how nice the hotel could be.
