“A good stay”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

For Coastal Path walkers, this hotel is a little ways off the path, but within reasonable walking distance. I stayed in room 5 for one evening. The check-in staff was very friendly. The room was decent sized, facing the front towards the road, though there wasn't much traffic noise at night to speak of. The bathroom is fitted decently with good water pressure and temp. Wifi access was simply good, but slow to load at times. Breakfast was well prepared and filling. Would like to stay here again if in the area.

Room Tip: Get the Welsh Beef burger in the restaurant. Excellent!

Called on speck due to our pre booked accommodation being unsatisfactory, this place saved our holiday. The owner was welcoming and the room in the annexe, t was a good size and comfortable if a little dated but at a fair price! We did not use the a la carte dining room, but were told by other guests that the food was good. We chose to dine in the pub dining area. There was a varied menu, the food was good with decent portions, and the service was really good bearing in mind how busy and vibrant the place was with tourists and locals on a sunny weekend,. Breakfasts in the dining room were very good..

We stayed at the local caravan site and visited The Anchorage a few times this Easter to be greeted by a freindly owner, wonderful staff and most importantly good ale and great food, They were brilliant with the children and Sunday lunch was heaving with customers. It was really good value for a family of five hungry people.

The Hotel rooms were clean with a nice view and had all the amenities needed (Tea/Coffee making, TV etc...). The bathrooms were large with a nice decor and also Very Clean. The adjoined Pub/Restaurant served Good food with an excellent wine list and the Staff were 10/10. There was a wide choice for breakfast which was served promptly and to the same high standards as the previous nights evening meal. Throughout the stay all Staff were friendly, courteous and professional. I would definitely stay again :-)

Went here for lunch on Easter Monday, serving traditional welsh pub grub the food was very tasty with a good plateful of it. Excellent value for money, nice to have good portions of food. The pub has excellent views from the front, shame the seating area isnt based there, there were only some small low tables near the front windows, it would have been nice to sit near the window to appreciate the sea views.

We used to go to the Anchorage very regularly; less so now but we went today and it was just the same as it always was. This is great because the food is consistently good. Prices are similar to those at other local places, but portions are huge and we left stuffed! The service is always good, too, with staff attentive but not stifling. We always leave a small tip here! I am amazed at some of the reviews which complain about the distance and extreme weather conditions between the main building and the annexe - it is across a small car park and hardly at the summit of a mountain or anything! I agree that the decor is dated, but it is unpretentious and seems to add to the charm of the place. We need to visit more often.

We recently visited the Anchorage for an evening meal and ordered the Gammon priced at £11.95, the menu stated it would be served with Tomato, Pineapple fried egg and sausage however what came was not as described not a sausage in sight nor any pineapple or tomato. I ordered Chicken curry which was very poor it was simply a supermarket own brand tinned curry sauce with chicken pieces added which for £10.50 is not very good at all.
The staff were pleasant and polite but the food is disappointing, I believe I could cook better myself and save money!
