We had our annual family weekend away and stayed here. The house and location was perfect for us & we had a fantastic time. Being straight on the beach was super!! The owner was really helpful. I would def stay again and I would recommend!

We chose Trefenon house for our yearly family gathering. We have stayed in many fabulous houses over the years and never had a problem. I should have been more cautious when asked for such a large £500 security deposit as the rule of thumb is 10%. This was kept when we returned as we were told there was damage. The damage was there already, I only wish we had taken photographs ( not what you think, or want to do while on holiday) We should have seen this coming when I printed the essay arrival details a few days before we were going, all 18 pages full off the house rules and instructions. Having children with us, it made me quite anxious, not a great start. I was quite alarmed! to say the least when the CCTV pointed at the hot tub as this can be watched from a mobile phone, It did stop many of us using the tub and not nice when you have children using it. The whole place felt very Big Brother. This is a beautiful house but one that should kept to use by the owners alone. This is not holiday home to relax in. My advise is tread with caution.

How easy was it to book the property? How helpful were the directions to the property?
How easy was key pickup/access to the property?

Thank you for your feedback, we do value feedback and appreciate it when guests take the time to write a review.
However, I’d like to address a few issues-
After each check out the house is inspected thoroughly by our cleaning company to ensure that the house is safe and there are no damaged, broken or defective items that could cause harm or injury to our guests.
After your party’s departure the cleaning company inspected the kitchen and found damage that was not there before your arrival, this will have to be replaced so the damage deposit has been retained to contribute to the cost of replacement which is more than the amount retained.

There were also other issues that were reported during the inspection after your stay- a used sanitary towel floating in the toilet (despite bins provided in each bathroom and signs clearly stating not to dispose of sanitary wear in the toilet), food had been disposed of in the kitchen bin without a bag, this had caused a large amount of flies in the kitchen (spare bin bags were under the sink).

With regards to the £500 damage deposit, we feel that £500 is a reasonable amount as the house is finished to a very high standard and has been valued at £750,000. £500 is a small reflection on the cost of the potential damage that could be caused by holiday makers. If you felt that this was too higher an amount then you were under no obligation to proceed with your booking.

Since opening our doors 98% of guests have had the full damage deposit returned, this is the first occasion we have had to retain the full amount.

A quick text or phone call to let us know when you supposedly noticed the damage would have been hugely appreciated, I know if it would have been me, I would had informed the owner upon first discovery. As a holiday home owner yourself, I would have thought that you would have known that it is good practice and understand the importance of informing the owners of any damage that you notice during you stay as soon as possible, but in your case you didn’t inform us at all.

I’d like to point out that our guest information pack is not 18 pages of rules! It is a booklet that provides directions to the house, information on items in the house- where they can be found and how to use them, information on the local area- super markets, take-aways and recommendations of restaurants and tourist attractions. There are however rules for the hot tub in the pack that provide guidance on safety aspects and how to maintain the water chemicals at a safe level. We have had many comments about how useful the pack is.

There is CCTV at the house as a security deterrent when the house is empty (we also have an alarm system linked through to the local police constabulary), cameras are on each access point (the door not the hot tub) and footage is recorded onto a cloud and therefore can be viewed should we need evidence for any criminal activity. It is not viewed on a mobile phone as you state and is certainly not used as ‘Big Brother’.

After your departure we received a text from you stating that you have had a great weekend and hope to come back again. Surely if you felt like you say in your review and you didn’t enjoy your stay, you wouldn’t wish to return to our house in future.

We stayed as a group of 8 adults and 8 children and had a fantastic time. The house is equipped to a very high standard and has stunning views. Great and friendly contact with the owners. We like it so much we booked again whilst we were still there.

Just back from a week at Trefonen House & could not state a single fault; stunning location, beautifully decorated house (with consideration to every family requirement), perfectly cleaned to the highest standard & the most amazing (enclosed) garden & playground. Jane (the owner) was so helpful with every question before & during our stay; we have immediately rebooked our holiday there next summer as this is a hidden gem! Thank you for everything Jane!

This house, and its surrounding and location is amazing. The pictures don't do it justice.
A group of us stayed for a weekend in June and from the moment we arrived to the minute we left every single one of us had everything we could have needed. We were blessed with glorious weather so the outdoor seating area and hot tub were the perfect place to relax and enjoy the most stunning views out to sea. We even went down on to the beach to do a bit of paddling and rock pooling.
This house has absolutely everything you could possibly want or need, Jane and Ross have thought of everything and are totally devoted to ensuring your stay is perfect.
Thank you for allowing us the pleasure of renting your beautiful house. We will be back for sure
