Stayed for two nights as a couple for a weekend break away from it all. It certainly offered all we needed and more. The room was warm and cosy with excellent quality furnishings. The bed was sooo comfortable - I want one at home..Breakfast was lovely..The house has gorgeous grounds and I imagine it would be lovely in summer with everything in bloom. Dave and Marilyn are exceptional hosts and make a real effort to meet all your needs. Yes it is a little off the beaten track but after the shock has worn off you soon get used to the single track lane that leads to the house. If looking for somewhere to stay in the area that's a little bit special - go to Plas Efenechtyd Cottage

If staying at an old farm house in the middle of the Welsh countryside is what your looking for, you can not do any better than Plas Efenechtyd Cottage. We were there 5 months ago in May 2013. Sometimes when time passes, your memory of a particular location only improves and you realize just how fantastic it really was. You are really in the middle of the Welsh countryside and it doesn't get any more beautiful than that. My only regret is that we weren't there later in the season when everything would be in full bloom. Dave & Marilyn were busy working making their home a special place but they still had time for us. They're 2 fabulous people, ones I'd like to only get to know better. They were fun to listen to and to be around. While the old farmhouse has it's quirks and may not seem perfect for everyone, I had the best nights sleep of any where I've ever been. I think the imperfections is what made my wife and I feel so comfortable and at home. While some may find it difficult to locate, others will find exactly what they're looking for as we did. Dave and Marilyn really don't need my review. Their reputation speaks for themselves. Great Bed & Breakfast! Have fun finding it.

Great house, great night's sleep, great views, great breakfast.
Great home made jam, home grown fruit, home baked bread & own hen's eggs.
Great hosts.
See a pattern? I'll be back when I'm next in the area.

What a gem of a B&B. After a dreadful and very long journey on a multitude of motorways, we arrived late at night and stepped out of the car and into another world - the magical tranquillity of Plas Efenechtyd Cottage. Under the black star-filled sky, fairly lights lit our way through the pretty garden leading the the cottage. The delightful house is beautifully decorated, our room immaculate and we had a very peaceful night. An excellent breakfast with fresh eggs from the hens in the garden and homemade bread and conserves. Dave and Marilyn are as charming as their cottage and I would definitely recommend this gem to anyone.

After reading the excellent reviews on Tripadvisor I booked in to Plas Efenechtyd for two days and was not disappointed. The house is set in a beautiful and peaceful location and perfect for a restful couple of days. My room was very nice, spacious and clean, with everything you'd expect (including free Wifi), comfy beds and a lovely bathroom. Dave and Marilyn, as many others have mentioned, are perfect hosts and I can attest to the quality of Dave's homemade jams and marmalades. It's especially nice to have warm, freshly-baked bread with breakfast too, little touches that make a lot of difference. All in all, I wouldn't have any hesitation in booking again and would heartily recommend Plas Efenechtyd if you're thinking of visiting the area.

I found this wonderful little place on a site other than TA and then checked it out here. I was struck by the passionate responses from clients! One rarely finds that these days and I contacted Dave and Marilyn right away and was thrilled that they could accommodate us on the dates we needed. Although our room was a wee bit small, the amenities (including ironed sheets...that alone blew me away!) more than made up for it. As reviewers have mentioned, Dave and Marilyn's outstanding hosting skills (and out of this world breakfast, especially the coffee, homemade bread and jams) make this a special place. Added to this is the adventure one experiences reaching this place on a narrow and twisting road. One piece of advice...definitely download or print their directions and follow them...you will find it! Marilyn's chickens formed our welcoming committee and Molly The Cat came by to check us out. Don't miss this!

I have just returned from my 3rd stay at this wonderful B & B and cannot recommend it highly enough. The setting is idyllic, tucked away in the Welsh hills with only the sounds of the birds in the garden within earshot. The rooms are spotlessly clean, decorated to a high standard and feel light and airy. Marilyn and Dave are the perfect hosts, warm and friendly and always on hand to offer advice on places to visit and directions to local beauty spots.Breakfast is a treat, homemade bread and jams, cereals and fresh fruit and with a full English breakfast on offer too. So nice to know the eggs are as fresh as can be often having been laid that day by one of the 6 chickens that Marilyn and Dave keep. I can't wait to go back!
