Hotel is in a good location and made an ideal base for exploring the local area. Staff were very friendly and in the room we had there was a lovely comfortable bed although definitely matched the description of ‘cosy’ as there was nowhere to store clothes.

Only had breakfast one day as it wasn’t that good but wasn’t a huge issue if you are travelling around the area. Would stay for a few nights again.

Positives:
Only things were the cleanliness, tv, and friendly staff.

Negatives:
The rooms were refurbished cheaply and were boiling - didn’t want to keep the window open because it looked on to a pile of rubbish from the refurbishments they are doing. The bathroom was tiny for a deluxe room - you could only access the sink with the door closed and the fan didn’t work in there so the whole bathroom would steam up if you had a shower.
The walls are paper thin so you hear everything! Including downstairs and was very disappointed when I had to complain about the noise from the bar after the bar had closed. (On a Sunday!)
FYI you’ll have to pay additional to park and to have breakfast on to top of the expensive weeknights rates. Definitely not worth the £110/night for a “deluxe room”.

Room tip: Don’t bother paying more for the deluxe room, and beware of the noisy location!

Have you always wanted to channel your inner Harry Potter? Yes? Well you can at this hotel in Room 204 which is actually a cupboard size room. No clothing storage whatsoever and a toilet wedged between the shower and wall big enough for a child or tiny adult. We were due to stay two nights but left after one and booked into the Premier Inn up the road where we had a very comfortable night!
The trip was topped off by the male customer toilets being covered in vomit the morning after the night before and the clearly microwaved breakfast.
The only good thing about the County Hotel was Ruth on reception who was really kind and helpful. The (new) management need to be available to deal with customer issues at all times.
Clearly false advertising as the photos on the website bear no resemblance to the room we had! If you are going to refurbish rooms may we suggest you do Rooms 204 and 207. Fortunately the second night was refunded after we phoned the manager when we had checked out.

My room unfortunately is up 4 flights of stairs difficult as i am disabled and no lift. But to be fair a young gentleman carried my bags for me much appreciated. The room is a twin with en suite facilities tv and tea and coffee and kettle. The room is spacious and clean with reasonable views from the window. I would definitely stay again but try and get a room on the firstfloor
