The Grove is supposed to be "the" place to eat in. From my experience, it is not.
We were the second to arrive and drinks took over half an hour with two reminders before they turned up. Food was another hour after that. It wasn't much, tasted OK and paid through the nose for it.
I couldn't be bothered to wait for any desserts because I wanted to be home before midnight. The service was not good and I felt one of the members of staff had an attitude problem.
The Old Cross Hotel may not look so stlyish, but the service there was far better.
