My friend and I had two single suplement rooms for a one night stay whilst walking the Coast Path. Both rooms were doubles with en-suite. The City Inn is a large public house with all that goes with that. Provided you accept the comings and goings, the City Inn has friendly staff, comfortable rooms and a great breakfast.

I had a lovely time staying here with my brother on our trip to Wales. We agreed the accomodation was all we needed. The welcome superb and the service great. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and better than at some hotels. Our rooms serviced everyday.Hot water great en suite shower. We had 2 rooms and both were warm but light and airy. Concierge service also reliable and useful

Room Tip: there is no lift

On arrival parking was easy which is always a plus. We had booked the family room which was clean and the en suite bathroom was clean with plenty of hot water. We ate in on the first night (we were only there for 2 nights), the food was okay and there was lots of it and reasonably priced too. The only down sides we found were the smell of cigarette smoke drifting up through the bedroom window which was above the kitchen and we are guessing was a smoking point for staff. Also, we found the bar area very dark. Two large TV's dominated both bars. The breakfast was good - plenty of it and the staff were all accommodating and polite. The centre of St Davids village is within easy walking distance and there is a large supermarket virtually opposite which was very useful. If we were in St Davids again I think we would happily book in here.

WE booked our ensuite room , one double bed and a single plus a sofa.. £75 a night BnB.
A light airey double aspect froom, well presented and spacious.
Pub bit v busy as a Ruby match was being shown, so straight to room. A serious warning for anyone over 6 foot..there is a residents entrance with a VERY dangerous low beam right in front of you as you go in SO poorly signposted as to be a severe hazard. I whacked my head on it so hard I nearly passed out! V V Poor!!
We decided not to eat there as the smell of rancid hot fat wafted up the stairs and was quite offputting.and you couldn't eat in the dining room, just in the bar.
However the breakfasts were excellent, and served by two charming ladies who made you so welcome.
St. Davids is a super little place, rather expensive: 2 large icecreams £8, fish chips peas and a cuppa £18! but if you've a bottomless pit, a fascinating place to visit.
Ambivolent about staying here again though

Room Tip: remember this can be a busy pub and therefore noisy

An average guest house in a good location minutes away from the city centre. Room and bathroom were clean, although bathroom was a little tired. Tea,coffee & biscuits were provided in room. We were above the bar and as per previous reviews, it was noisy, but even on a Saturday night the noise stopped at around 12. Breakfast was good. We didn't see much of the staff, but all we encountered seemed efficient. On site parking was easy. Lots of places to eat & drink nearby.

Our grandson was returning from Afghanistan and his regiment based in St Davids. The medal ceremony was held at the Bishops Palace in St Davids.Found this hotel via the internet and noted it had a decent sized car park and just a 10 minute walk to Cathedral. We arrived about 10.30 am and didn't really expect to book in but was going to ask to leave the car. No problem, landlord handed us the keys. We had booked a family room just for the two of us because sometimes the beds are ridiculously small. Not so, a nice five foot bed.and large bathroom. Every thing we needed, tea and coffee extra blankets in wardrobe etc. Bitterly cold day so didn't feel like finding a restaurant so ate in the hotel. Quite a good menu. I had home made chicken and leek pie.Plentiful, couldn't eat it all. Comfortable night and a good breakfast.Everything you could think of hot and cold. Definately going back for a longer stay in the summer. In the evening we joined the locals in the public bar although the residents did have one. Pool table and dart board in public bar. Efficiently run and the hotel was full. Only minus points. No pretty view out of the window and the landlord could do with practicing a smile in a mirror. Saying that he was perfectly polite if a bit dour. Will be going back

Just returned from a weekend at the City Inn. Had a family room with ensuite which was immaculate with all accessories catered for (tea, coffee, hairdryers, clean towels etc) the position is brilliant to look around St David's and the bar food excellent. We also went to the local pubs ( Grove, Bishops and Farmers) but did not compare to the City Inn. Had a lovely curry in the 'saffron' though. There's plenty or parking and the breakfast is excellent with a really cheerful waitress. All in all a great stay ..
