After not wishing to eat in our Hotel, as we were looking for a place for a special celebratory meal, we came across this excellent Hotel/restaurant in the centre of the "City"
A Very promising menu posted at garden gate promised the special experience we were hoping for, and had failed to find elsewhere in this overpriced city, which seems to have opinions of itself no matched by whats actually on offer!, Cathed
eral excluded of course.
We booked for sunday lunch. Had our excellent first courses in the garden, a superb pate and similar prawn dish, then were shown to our table where our nicely chilled v superior Cablis awaited. Two very well presented and, more to the point, excellent tasting main dishes, one Lamb, the other Beef, followed.
Sweets of properly prepared in house Eton Mess and A huge Chocolate confection rounded things off.
The staff were attentive and professional.
I wish we had stayed at the Hotel here too! A little more expensive but a world away from "ours", and both notionally 3 stars. Who actually does the checks anyway.!
£60 odd spent on a special meal ,and worth every penny! Indeed we went back and had a bar snack that same evening, Brill whitebait!
