“Well worth a visit.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

Top tip. When you get into the city of St David’s, at the Market Cross dump the sat-nav, and follow the brown signs to the car park, otherwise you have a tour of the city’s side streets.

We came here before visiting the Cathedral, as the annual leavers’ service was taking place in the Cathedral, expecting it to last an hour or less. Initially we were surprised that there was an entry fee for a ruin, however once inside we saw why. There are many interesting displays on two levels, and a large building to explore. Allow more than an hour.

“Stunning location”

Popped in for coffee and welsh cakes in the refectory. Gorgeous setting in its own amphitheatre type setting. Steps not for the faint-hearted.

“A Palace of a Castle”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014

I have fond memories of exploring this place as a young teenager, and my daughter had a good time doing the same. The ruins are fun to poke around in, with lots of mysterious staircases and a tower with a grand view. The audio "stations" detract a bit from the visual beauty, but they're well done.

“Great place to visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2014

Visited here after going into the Cathedral next door, their history is so linked that you can't visit one without going to the other. There are information boards throughout the site with audio commentary in either Welsh or English.

The views from the firt floor rooms towards the cathedral are worth seeing - and if you struggle with stairs there is an accessible lift. There is not only a tower but also several rooms in the cellar under the main part of the house which you can walk through giving a real feel for what life was like for the servants working in them with little light and narrow stairs.

Overall a good place to explore and don't forget to look out for the gargoyles whilst there.
