Really ? Was that it ?
Myself and my partner love visiting ancient monuments, Abbeys, castles etc and had seen various postcards of Bishops Palace so thought it was worth taking a drive out to see it. Well how can i put this ? It took us longer to buy a sandwich in the local nisa shop than it did to tour Bishops Palace ! Basically its nothing more than the outer walls left standing with a few circular stone staircases that you struggle to fit up unless your a keen mountain climber, physically fit and weigh less than 7 stone.
Maybe for the 20 mins it took us to look around it would of been worth it had it not been for the entrance fee of £3.50 each !! Like the circular steps.....A little steep for what you get at the end.

“Wonderful!”

We went here after visiting st. Davids cathedral and was a bit tired and wondering if it was worth it, but once inside I was very pleasantly surprised. The site is very well maintained and the interpretation is informative without being out of place. There are steps leading up to the top of the ruins that are quite narrow and steep but the views from the top are spectacular. A surprising treat of a palace that I would recommend to anyone.

Great to sit in the beer garden and have a nice meal. Good quality (food and drinks). Places in the sun and in the shadow...

“Interesting.”

Information readily available in each section. If you are feeling energetic do try the stairs. Not always easy for modern people! People were alot smaller in the 13th century!

“Well worth a visit.”

Top tip. When you get into the city of St David’s, at the Market Cross dump the sat-nav, and follow the brown signs to the car park, otherwise you have a tour of the city’s side streets.

We came here before visiting the Cathedral, as the annual leavers’ service was taking place in the Cathedral, expecting it to last an hour or less. Initially we were surprised that there was an entry fee for a ruin, however once inside we saw why. There are many interesting displays on two levels, and a large building to explore. Allow more than an hour.
