Very friendly place to stay be it staff or the locals. Our room was comfortable but basic, there is a tea tray with tea and coffee but no drinking chocolate or biscuits. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order but there was little choice (my husband enjoys a cooked breakfast) I would prefer a continental or just cereal. We booked this with a groupon voucher which just over half price which in fairness was enough to pay there is no way would I pay the full price to stay here.

Room Tip: Ring the hotel to ask for the best room available

We have just spent two days in the beautiful town of Laugharne, made famous by the great poet Dylan Thomas. The Three Mariners is part of a group which includes 'Browns Hotel' where Dylan used to spend a lot of time. We had a lovely room with extremely comfortable beds (two fans for the warm weather) and a huge very tasty breakfast. all in all we would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Stayed at nearby "Seasons". Walked down to this pub and my wife and I did not know what to expect as 2 Old Age Pensioners!!. Sat outside and almost immediately was asked to join in with some locals with their dog. We had such a great evening, some of the language was a bit baudy but never felt threatened at all,
as sometimes we feel in London. Seems to me that the locals here know how to enjoy themselves and I had jaw ache by the end of the evening. Ale was good and by comparison cheap. I would call this a "proper pub"

We took advantage of a Travel Zoo offer having never heard of Laugharne. We intended just to use it a base and travel around ... we didn't enter our car until the last day and then we found an overspill room for another night. It's the nicest place you could ever want to visit, Everyone is so friendly so if you don't enjoy conversation with complete strangers then it's maybe not the place for you. They are so interested in making friends, everywhere we went it wasn't just a matter of paying the bill and moving on, they are genuinely interested in everyone and the whole Township are on first name terms ... my wife didn't want to leave and neither did I. If you want rooms with rows of 'smelly's' in the bathroom then you will be disappointed but if you want excellent food and plenty of it together with really friendly service then this is definitely the place.

Room Tip: Can be lively over the weekend but sample the excellent ales and cider then it won't bother you...

Terry, this is one of our favourite ever reviews. You are a gentleman and are welcome back anytime. Introduce yourself and there's a free drink on us! This quote really sums up the Mariners:

We had a 2 night break here on the weekend and loved it.
We have stayed before so knew it was a friendly place and yes a bit noisy but it's a pub.
We were allocated room 5 which was large and comfortable. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was huge.
The breakfasts are huge. You will not go hungry if you eat here.
On the Saturday evening we chose to eat in the restaurant but was told it was closed as there was entertainment on but Richard said he would open for us. I had the Pizza and the hubby had chicken meatballs with pasta it was a lovely meal so, thank you Richard:-)
The locals were good company and all the staff were really friendly, you are a credit to the place well done.
Looking to book again soon.

We made a spontaneous visit to Laugharne yesterday afternoon, intending to return home for dinner. On walking round the town we stumbled on this absolute jewel. We had heard of the place, as it is often mentioned when people speak of Dylan Thomas, the poet and playwright. He used to frequent the place, when he lived in Laugharne.

Richard, the bar manager, was very hospitable, as was the second Richard, the bar man. We immediately felt at home. Within minutes he had cooked us two excellent pizzas. I had cockles, mozzarella, and lava bread on tomato. My wife had chicken and sweet pepper on tomato. The pizzas were absolutely delicious. And Richard (1 and 2) had given us free rein to choose the toppings.

There were three real ales on tap, Moorlands Old Speckled Hen, Evan Evans Warrior, and a bitter. After being given a taste of the ales, we immediately decided on the Warrior - what a delight. We ended up booking a room and staying up late drinking Warrior and making new friends. The locals were fantastically friendly, and we were chatting, joking and laughing until well after midnight. And there is a modern juke box, which boasts an extensive range of all genres of music. The small group of us who stayed till late, played a good selection of 50s, 60s and 70s music, including Bob Marley, Dire Straits, Tony Christie, Dave Berry, Joe Cocker, Elvis Presley, and The Drifters.

The bar is in a traditional Georgian building, and it can certainly not be described as upmarket. We saw many people walk past the Mariners, and into the upmarket Browns Hotel, which has same owners. However, the atmosphere in the Mariners was great and the place was buzzing, whereas, as we saw, the bar in Browns was almost empty, and very quiet.

We have promised Richard, Richard, Sue and Ron, that we will go and see them again soon. They were so friendly that they almost adopted us as family. What an amazing place. No wonder that
Dylan Thomas used to frequent this wonderful bar.

Room Tip: Talk to the bar manager, Richard.

Very unusually for us, we hadn't booked ahead and just turned-up in Laugharne late on a summer Sunday afternoon. We trawled the length of the town before settling on the Three Mariners which, at the time, we didn't realise was under the same management as Brown's Hotel. The guy who showed us around was quite adamant that it might be noisy - "Sunday Night is Drinking Night in Laugharne" he said - and suggested we go to Brown's if in any doubt. But we stayed, and weren't bothered by noise at all, until the recycling truck arrived to remove all the glass bottles very early on the Monday morning! The room (on the top floor) was fine, with a big bath and lots of hot water, and we also enjoyed the breakfast in Brown's. I'm sure the complaints about the noise may be justified on some nights, but don't let that put you off staying here at other times.
