The scenery is wonderful and there is a real sense of tranquillity. Dylan Thomas's writing shed was fantastic to see! We did not pay to go into the museum part of the boat house but went straight down the stair case to the café and sat on the terrace. Although the sandwich we were served was pretty poor for £4.99 (thin best of both style bread!), the pot of tea and tea-cake was nice, the service was extremely friendly, and it was lovely place to sit and take in the view.

Laugharne itself is awesome especially if one parks down on the estuary car park with the Castle looming to ones left! A walk around the corner and there it is......the home he shared with Caitlin and the children and of course his writing shed.
The museum is fairly priced and well worth a visit, the shop is tastefully stocked and the cafe is welcoming, subtly placed.....with views overlooking the Estuary.
The staff are extremely knowledgable, helpful and cheery and I can't think of a nicer place to spend a morning than there....drinking up the atmosphere and reminiscing about Dylan's life and talent. Not exploited......not in your face.......but there if you want it.

What a lovely location. Quite a trek to get there, but worth it. His writing shed, which was converted from the garage, was particularly interesting. We were fascinated by his life story and the photos. There is also a tea room.

£4 odd to look at two rooms and the rest is a cafe. You can look at his garage where he done his writing for free.

Although I had heard of Dylan Thomas I wasn't that familiar with his work before our visit, but standing by his work room overlooking the river & reading one of his poems about the view was deeply moving. We strolled on to the Boathouse where we climbed down to the house and enjoyed exploring it and watching the excellent film about him. We enjoyed a lovely cup of coffee & delicious freshly baked slice of cake whilst sitting on the terrace in the sunshine. They have a good book shop on the way out. After enjoying this lovely peaceful spot & strolling round the bay enjoying the views we were horrified to learn that planning permission has apparently been granted to build a wind farm with several huge masts on the hill opposite to the boathouse, ruining the view & probably endangering the migrating birds that come through here. Tragic!!
