“Charming country church”

Beautiful little church with interesting graveyard. Dylan Thomas's grave is there, but there are other more interesting headstones, too.

“beautifull little church”
Reviewed 25 February 2013

Walked the coastal path to Penbryn and decided to detour to visit the pretty church on the hill. Were pleasantly suprised that the door was open so went in for a look. Well worth the walk from the beach in Penybryn, very small but full of history

“Lux aeterna”
Reviewed 22 February 2013

This is a active church, a church building in which to contemplate, and a grave yard where Dylan and Caitlin Thomas came to share the ultimate observance with others in this sloping hillside community. A pilgrimage it is for those listening still for Dylan's poetry, prose, and prophecy.

“Dylan Thomas' final resting place”
Reviewed 15 November 2012

The outside of the Church iis rather dark and sombre looking and it would have been nice to have been able to go inside but sadly it was locked. Dylan's grave is marked with a wooden white cross and isn't difficult to find amongst the gravestones. I regret not taking flowers to place there..

“Dylan Thomas' grave & church”
Reviewed 11 October 2012

St Martin's church is set on the hillside overlooking the road (on the east side)as you drive into Laugharne. It's well worth visiting if its open, if not look around at the old grave stones surrounding the church, and under the old yew trees.
Dylan Thomas' grave is in the extention to the churchyard, reached by crossing a bridge over the cobbled lane (the cobbles are only on the lower part of the lane). It has a fairly certral possition here, and is a simple white cross. If you approach it from below, you wont realise its his grave, as on that side the cross bears his wife, Catherine's details, with Dylan's details on the other, upward, side.
