stayed a the lodge for 4 days. well where do i start. on arriving you drive through lovely well kept gardens. then a steep drive up to your lodge. the setting is fabulous with great views over the countryside. some cabins have views of the golf course, ours was over the fields. the lodge it self was big and spacious with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. open plan kitchen dining room and livingroom. heating throughout. the views were great with so much wildlife. after unpacking we sat on the bench facing the fields watching the sheep with there lambs listening to all the birds. which are plentyful from blue tits robins woodpeckers buzzards and so so many phesants! then sitting at the door to the lodge was a duck which we fed every day. it really is a lovely place in a great setting. everything is provided in the cabins except towels so take your own. all bedding is provided. the park also caters for children with a small childrens area and a miny farm with 2 pigs 2 little ponys a donkey and a lllama. we walked around the park which is set in a woodland area. all lodges are spaced apart from each other.a little walk from the lodges takes you to the canal where you can walk to abermule berriew and newtown. there are not many benches to sit at whilst walking . we walked to berriew about 2 mile great little village. it has won awards for being the best kept village. there are a couple of pubs and a spar and tearoom. we visited the tearoom very nice cream tea and also the talbot pub. they have a beergarden so you can sit out and look over the village and river 7. food there was good and affordable with two for one. not a lot in abermule just 2 pubs and a little shop. all in all we had a great time so peaceful and relaxing will be going back next year. would recommend to anyone wanting peace and quite with so much wildlife.

Our girls 6 and 4 loved it, we had some great outdoor fun ( rain aswell ). The staff were very helpful and we will defo be booking again. I recommend a trip to Powis castle too it's a good day out .

visited late September as a family break. lodge was spacious and comfy, 2 storey lodge so had to fashion a stair gate to stop our smallest scaling the stairs all the time. décor dated. setting was beautiful and the view from the large glass windows was stunning. toilet was broken and leaking but was fixed the next day by owners. small play area for the children but they loved the hill outside the lodge more! the roads up to the lodges are very steep and single lane if it had been icy weather our car wouldn't have made it. lots of wildlife around, saw nuthatches for the first time ever. supermarkets close by in Welshpool or Newtown. the area is very rural so perfect for relaxing and getting away.

Room Tip: great views quiet but very steep hills

As soon as we arrived the view and park setting amazed us. Lodges all spread out on the hills with wonderful views. We stayed in the Murray lodge and although some road noise could be heard the veiw of the lake and trees made up for it. The lodge was in good condition and was well equipt. We walked along the canal both ways into the villages. Berriw ( right along the canal) is slightly shorter distance and a better village as it has 2 pubs and 1 on route to the village. A lovely church and a small shop and a river runing through the village. We visited the flash swimming pool in Welshpool which was only a 15 min drive and has a slide and a jacuzzi, we also had a look around the shops in Welshpool. High street shops and supermarkets can be found in Welshpool as well as some nice places to eat and a good chippy! . The golfclub lakeside restaurant is a 5 min walk across the path on the golf course and the lunch menu was fantastic value. Plenty to do in the area such as castles nature reserves etc. Reception has plenty of booklets and info for the area. This really is a lovely place and we all felt relaxed and happy just sitting out at night and being so close to nature. The animals on the park was a nice touch too as well as the small playarea and football nets.

Room Tip: Murray lodge faces the lake with lovely veiws.
