The rooms appear to be quite similar. Each is very small and dark with tiny windows. Have to hang clothes on back of door. Room & bathroom very clean though. Restaurant looks like something out of the 1970s and is very dated. Food adequate but order taken incorrectly.

My partner and I don't usually stay in pub accomodation, so I can't really compare this with other pubs. The room was pleasant enough, although a little bland. The beds were comfy and there was a large tv. There was a very good ensuite with a big "p" shaped bath. A previous reviewer had commented that the bathroom door in this room (Boozey) did not close properly and that there was no handle on the inside of the door to help it close or open. We found that these problems had not been fixed. This led to a lack of privacy.

We had a meal in the courtyard one night, which was nice and had a continental feel to it.

The overall service at the pub was polite and efficient, but lacked a personal touch.

The breakfast was well cooked and tasty, but we found the overall breakfast experience a bit gloomy. Breakfast is taken in the restaurant which is quite pleasant, but we were shoved up a dark corner facing the wall. We were asked what we would like in the way of a cooked breakfast and we replied that we are vegetarian and asked what the choice was. The waitress replied "whatever he's got available". We were then given what appeared to be the standard cooked breakfast minus the bacon and sausage. So, it seemed a bit small, although there was a grilled capsicum with it, which was tasty, if a little strange for breakfast. On the second day we asked if there was anything like hash browns or potato waffles and were offered some sauteed potoatoes which were nice, but we wondered why they weren't offered on the first morning. On the third monring we saw some other guests had been given some baked beans although we were not offered any.

It was a shame really because with a little more thought, what was a tasty but small breakfast in a dingy corner of the restaurant, could have been made something special, by explaining the different options available or having a menu. Guests could be seated at the main restaurant tables and perhaps a little soft music could be played, which would create a better atmosphere and impression.

As to whether or not we would stay her again, no, we wouldn't as we much prefer a traditional bed and breakfast establishment to this pub.

Gorgeous little snug room, with a lovely hot roaring fire. Staff were all incredibly friendly and polite. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was lovely, home cooked and fresh. We were recommended to visit this Inn, so glad they did!!

We arrived on a very wet, cold Saturday and received a warm welcome in the cosy snug bar. Our bar meal was excellent in both quality and value. The bedroom looked lovely, but it was very cold and the very well-fitted en-suite was spoiled by the fact that the door fastener was broken. There was nowhere to hang our very wet coats and the evening entertainment was noisy. Breakfast was excellent, but the dining room is down a wooden staircase which is slippery when wet. On a sunny weekend this would be an ideal place to say. In heavy rain at the end of the season, perhaps not.

It was more than one would expect from an inn at the centre of a small town. Friendly, helpful and efficient staff. More than acceptable rooms - it's not the Savoy! But the best bit was the food, reasonably priced and excellent quality, in a very pleasant dining room away from the bars.

Ideally located for a trip on the "Heart of Wales" line and convenient for a trip to Bishop's Castle to sample their remarkable micro brewery ales.

Finally some very friendly locals (and dogs) to make it most pleasant short break.
