“Everything was perfect”
Reviewed 8 August 2012

The setting was post card perfect.

There were different shades of green of the nearby hills, tree and valley. Then there was this pretty garden. Among the colourful flowers and plants flown different birds towards the feeder. It was a joy and privilege to encounter their dance and chorus. In addition to a few well placed benches, there were two summer houses to relax with a book and a drink while takng in the view of the valley in the company of a few charming sheep and lambs. That was my favourite ways to spend an afternoon.

The cottage was clean, airy, bright and very comfortable. The bedrooms were spacious and the shower was good. The hot tub and sauna was a favourite with my husband and our two teenage sons.

Clare and Neil were so friendly and helpful that we felt we have known them a long time. They made us felt very welcomed. You could feel their love and pride of their farm and cottages in the way they attend to their garden and every small details of their cottages. Well done Clare and Neil.

This is a perfect place to get away from it all. The garden, the rolling hills and the views. It doesn't get any better than this.

We recently returned from a week's holiday at Cyfie Farm and can honestly say that it is one of the best places we have ever stayed in as regards comfort, location and personal attention. The formula is half way between B§B and self-catering, making for great flexibility and convenience. Our suite was very comfortable and was available to us all day since the rooms are cleaned while guests are at breakfast. The location is far enough off the beaten track to feel really in the country while not being too remote, and all the positive comments about the views are not exaggerated. It is all run to the highest standards, but the best aspect is the warm and personal welcome extended by Claire and Neil to their guests. The breakfasts are excellent with plenty of choice, and the dinners available at weekends are delicious and well presented (take your own wine if you want to do them justice!). There are plenty of local places of interest (castles, gardens, waterfalls etc.), and Snowdonia and the coast are also within easy reach. Seeds restaurant in Llanfyllin is the nearest good eatery, 'good' being the understatement of the year.

We have just enjoyed a perfect experience at this beautiful farm!
From the second I got out of the car I was physically stunned by the tranquility and serenity of the place.
The only sounds were the gentle bleating of the spring lambs and the sudden whooshes of the swallows passing overhead.
The views through the valley - all the way to England in the East, and from the top of the drive, the dark, brooding mountains of Snowdonia - were spectacular in the dappled Welsh sunshine.
All this serves as a counter-point to the pretty and beautifully maintained gardens, full of vibrancy, colour and perfume, blossoms spilling out in abundance and welcoming you into what feels like a secret garden, complete with a couple of private, bijou summerhouses.
Neil and Claire, our hosts greeted us with a warm, personal welcome and indulged us with a tour of the place and a few kind suggestions as to our choice of venue for our evening meal.
Our suite (The Barley Suite) was immaculately clean, 'chocolate-box cottage' cosy and an excellent example of tastefully elegant country-living.
We had booked the spa for use in the evening and enjoyed a beautiful sunset from the comfort of the hot-tub - an absolute treat!
A sound sleep was had in a comfortable and warm bed - and the gentle bird-song in the morning led to a gentle and refreshed wakening.
Breakfast was served in our hosts home and was as fresh, well prepared and tasty as anyone could ever ask for. The choice was great and the still warm, freshly baked bread rolls a real winner!
The reluctance to leave in the morning enormous - how could one tear oneself from this oasis of tranquility!
Needless to say we would be thrilled to go back again one day and I simply cannot thank our hosts enough.
I appreciate this review may seem a touch over-effusive to some - but it simply was that good and I certainly don't mind sharing that!

We stayed for a weekend in March. We had a great warm welcome from Claire and Neal. The location is amazing and the view is fantastic I would definitely suggest that you have a go in the spa. Watching the sun go down over the valleys was fantastic especially with the bubbles off just listening to the sheep and new born lambs.
The suite is a good size and having a kitchenette was great. Also the wood fire was fantastic in the evening. I especially loved the bathroom which was huge and beautifully decorated. Overall for my taste, although the rooms as done to a very high standard, they are a bit old fashioned and a bit cluttered but as i said this is just my personnel taste.
Having a separate entrance was great as you didn’t feel you were intruding or having to walk through anywhere really wet and muddy.
If you are not eating there then you will need to drive a reasonable distance to fine food but we had great food at a restaurant suggested by Neil and Clare called Seeds one night and then made our own food another having had a late huge lunch so this was not a problem.
Breakfast was fantastic and large portions and good quality products. The fresh rolls are lovely. You eat at one large table with other guests so was a good chance to meet others. It was also a good opportunity to get Neil and Clare to share some of their great ideas for walks.

Many thanks for your kind review. We note your comments about the suite you stayed in and value your opinion; we are a 17th Century Farmhouse and have tried to keep our decor in keeping with the property but appreciate that taste is a very personal matter. We are glad that you liked many things about our farm and we are surprised that you did not appear to get good sleep quality, especially after enjoying the Spa which most guests find most relaxing and sleeping in our hand-made beds. Is there anything we could have done to improve that aspect for you? Perhaps you will come and stay with us again and try a different suite?
