Arrived to a very warm greeting from Molly the resident labrador and beautiful log fires! Fabulous food and very comfortable rooms. A really relaxing weekend with friends and would definitely return. Charming staff made us feel like we were in a country home and not a hotel and with the Christmas decorations up it was just what we needed to get us in the festive mood! Thank you.

Room Tip: We booked a suite which had a lovely view and good sitting area for watching the tv and reading. Ni...

We stayed here for one night on a dinner, bed & breakfast travelzoo deal.
Wished we had stayed longer as the hotel is lovely, very comfortable bedroom with it's own sitting area (we stayed in the Badger room). Bedroom & bathroom had everything you could wish for with lovely toiletries and fluffy towels.

We treated ourselves to a facial, neck and shoulders spa treatment which was heavenly, so relaxing and such a treat. The spa was a beautiful new building overlooking the lake.
The grounds are really nice and ideal for walking around. I would imagine the grounds to look stunning in Spring when the Rhododendrons are in full bloom.

Staff are great, you receive a good friendly welcome. They are a credit to the hotel.

Food was very nice, tasty, beautifully presented, but my only complaint is that the portions are very small. i.e. Dessert (tarte tatin), was the size of a matchstick box with one scoop of ice cream.
Breakfast was excellent, and this time the portions were not small. Breakfast was amongst one of the best we've had anywhere.
Would I return? Yes, but it would have to be on a deal as I would not be happy to pay the full price due to the size of our evening meal.

Overall, we had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay.

A really relaxing and welcoming country house hotel in Wales. Greeted by friendly staff and open fires, pampered in spa and swimming pool with novel jacuzzi outside looking over countryside. Nice walks around grounds. Rooms decorated nicely with elegance and comfort. Food, wine and service were great. Afternoon tea plentiful! Would definitely go again and recommend to friends.

Room Tip: We had a second floor room in main building called Heron. It was very nice with big bathroom and lou...

The main house has been "done up" since our last visit. But it has been done in a way which retains the country house feel. Excellent service, lovely room (we always have Badger which has a small separate sitting room), wonderful food.

We chose The Lake as it was half way between us and our friends. The hotel is beautifully maintained and all the staff are friendly and welcoming. The log fires were roaring, the Christmas decorations were up and we felt as if we were in a family country home. The food and the wine was magnificent and nothing felt like to much trouble. As the weather was so good we went for a lovely walk and there are several different walks and things to do to choose from at the desk near the front door. We came back to a well deserved afternoon tea of scones with oodles of jam and cream in front of one of the roaring log fires. Our suite was delightful. Beautiful furnishings and fabrics, spotlessly clean and lovely treats from which to pamper our body from the spa. Dinner was delicious and could easily compete against some of the London menus; an outstanding wine list in such a remote area. A hidden gem and we shall certainly be going back for another treat next year!

This is a beautifully maintained hotel with excellent service in a peaceful location. All staff were warm, friendly and very welcoming. The furnishings were comfortable and of high quality, open log fires burned throughout the public areas, and there was even a Bechstein grand piano to play! The spa with 50ft swimming pool was separate but equally immaculate in presentation. We felt very much at home while we relaxed at this beautiful place. Our Travelzoo deal was exceptional value for money.

My husband and I booked a night at this hotel last minute. We were looking for a relaxing stay in a cosy, tranquill location and we weren't disappointed! We were there with our one year old daughter Nicole, which at some hotels can be problematic, however from the minute we arrived the staff could not be more accommodating, making sure we had everything to make our stay easy and stress free! Every element of the stay perfect; from the suite we had (a beautiful, split level room), to the 5 course dinner we enjoyed and most importantly, from the level of service we received. Nothing was of much trouble. What I really liked was that the owners were also around and spoke to you like you were old friends, visiting their home for the weekend. We will definitely be returning however this time we will book two nights so we can take advantage of the spa and surrounding grounds!

Room Tip: If you are travelling with young children, stay in the main house
