“Great pub with very friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2010

We ate here several times when last in Wales. It was a lovely evening so we sat outside with a delicious Welsh beer and then ate indoors. The menu was great for vegetarians and there was a good range of fish and meat too. The puddings were also yummy. Good portions too.

Most memorable though was the warm wlecome and smiling staff. I hope the new owners will keep it the same.(It is for sale ) Just a word of warning; it is not in Mach, but a few minutes drive away in Derwenlas and there is not much parking, so be early!

“Great atmosphere and food - popular little pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2009

After my last visit a few months back I tried to get TA to put this place on the map - glad to see it is finally here. This pub/restaurant is one of my favourites in the area and always on my must visit lists when visiting family in nearby Borth.

This is primarily a restaurant more than a pub (particularly in the evening) but is also a good pint and a bite to eat lunchtime venue. It offers a good selection of real ales and a selection of wines.

Every time I have been the place is packed so I would recommend booking. The main menu is very solid with pub food but also more ambitious home cooked dishes making good use of local produce. However a wide range of daily specials is offered and I would say these (except for the legendary huge prawn cocktail) is where my interest is always drawn.

The food is consistently good (which I guess is why it is always busy). Good service and great atmosphere in this traditional old low beamed ceiling building. In winter there is roaring real fire to toast you.

Definitely a hidden gem for people visiting the area. Parking can be a challenge when busy so people end up pulling over onto the verge nearby. I believe there are a couple of rooms offered for overnight accomodation.
