“A very good b and b”
Reviewed 14 March 2014

We stayed here for a two night break to visit friends and to visit Ynyshir and found it to be a welcoming and well appointed B and B. The room was very comfortable and we were made to feel very welcome. We have already recommended Dyfiview to friends.

Stayed here a couple of times now and its been great each time. Breakfasts were fantastic with home made rolls and the best bacon ever. Easy to get to with a great view of the valley I found myself spending ages just watch hills and the river.

Very spacious, clean and comfortable family room was ideal for us with our son, while visiting relatives over Christmas. It even felt cosy during the very stormy winter nights despite the rain being driven onto the Velux. The facilities were great, tea and coffee in the room is always nice, but we also appreciated the free wifi.
Our hosts were wonderfully helpful and friendly, even cooking us breakfast on Christmas day! Choices to suit all, including beautiful eggs from their own chickens and delicious home made marmalade.
We had good advice about where to walk and borrowed the appropriate maps. The scenery in the area is lovely, but we even had a great view from the bedroom and dining rooms, as the house is pirched in a perfect spot a short walk up the hill over looking the valley. I'm sure we'll be returning.

Very comfortable and clean accommodation with helpful hosts, wonderful views and fabulous breakfasts. A big treat- we took our teenage son and a friend mountain biking and exploring the area. They loved it- but the best bit of the trip was the B&B. Recommend Coed-y-Brenin for glorious mountain bike riding as even after very wet conditions- they have hot showers and a cafe.
Would love to visit again. Thank you

Room Tip: If you want space- the room with the sofa and beds is big but both rooms are lovely

It's great to hear how much you enjoyed your stay. So glad you liked the jams too! Everybody seems to be praising them now. I hope the flattering remarks don't go to Gill's head!

Dyfiview is perfectly situated with a stunning view of Machynlleth. The service was incredible also. We arrived late on the Sunday night and they happily helped us with our bikes and let us store them in their garage. The rooms were beautiful with ensuit and breakfast in the morning was great. The whole family thoroughly enjoyed the short stop.

Thank very much taking the trouble to review our B&B and I'm pleased that you graded everything as 'excellent'. You are certainly right about the stunning view - especially as I write today with the sun beaming down on all the autumn colours across the valley. I waste hours just looking at it!

We had some family business to conduct nearby, and Dyfiview was recommended to us. The house is very easy to find and close to the railway station. Mike and Gill are great hosts and made us very welcome. Our bedroom (with en-suite shower room) was very comfortable, and commanded a lovely view over the valley. We shall certainly stay there again if we are ever in the area.

Dyfiview is not your typical B&B (if there is such a thing), it's a well appointed modern house situated in an upmarket residential road with tremendous views down over Machynlleth and the countryside beyond. A word of advice, there is (deliberately) no big 'B&B' sign, but the place is easy to find on the right at the top of the hill. We used it as a base for a weekend away walking and mountain biking (spoilt for choice with possibilities for both on the doorstep). It was a nice touch to be met with a tray of tea and biscuits on arrival, and Mike was easy going and friendly from the outset. He's also an author so you might just feel tempted to buy one of his rather good travel books too! The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, everything you could want really. Breakfast was tasty and perfectly cooked - and vegetarians were accommodated with ease. Home baked bread and homemade jams and marmalades made it a bit special, and the view from the breakfast room was fantastic. It's a short walk downhill to enjoy the restaurants and pubs of Machynlleth and a mysteriously slightly longer walk back up. We used the footpath (torch needed) which takes you into the centre of town in under 5 mins. So yes, a great place to stay, will definitely be back.
