“Worth a trip to the market for this stall alone!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 November 2013

Thanks to the other reviews on here, I found Shirley's food van on my first visit to Mach market. It's a great place to meet people, seems to be a real community hub as Shirley knows all her customers and folk stand around chatting whilst waiting for their orders (everything is cooked fresh while you wait). But social life aside, this food may be simple but it is seriously good. The chili paneer kati rolls are the perfect snack on a cold day and the samosas are some of the best I have ever had. Was also lucky enough to attend one of Shirley's occasional cookery classes, which was very informative and great fun.

“soul of the market...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 November 2013

This food is so popular, you will have to get there early (mid morning) to beat the 12noon and 1pm rush! There is always a heathy crowd around shirley's stall, and plenty of good converation as you wait for the freshly prepared food. Panner Kati Roll especially recommended, but she also does dahl's, samosas and all kinds of interesting dishes. Menu slightly different each week. Shirely is always up for chatting with the constant stream of customers and it's refreshing to reframe your consumer attitude (that is so used to wanting everything fast and efficient) to one which appreciates a pause in the day to talk and eat good food. All the packaging is compostable too!

“Best and cheapest!”

The world would be a far better place if Shirley were in charge of catering. Her food is a shining example to all. Every mouthful is a wonder, every time, whatever you choose..
Five stars in a ridiculous understatement.
Chai in clay cups next Shirley?

“kati rolls are not to be missed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2013

this lady comes to mach market each wednesday with her trailer to make 'street food'. you have to wait for your order, sometimes upto 15 minutes as she makes every order fresh...but somehow the waiting just makes it even more irresistable.so make sure you are not in a hurry, and enjoy something special

Best Indian food for over a hundred miles , all veg all delicious , if you want real Indian food ( not easy to find ) don't mistake it for the other Indian food van on the market ( rude lady ) that sells overpriced meat dishes !
