We were staying close by & decided to try the restaurant. It is quite pricey for sure but the food was exceptionally good! We both had steaks, sirloin & fillet, which were very good. We were served appetisers (asparagus mousse & warm bread & butter) with the compliments of the chef - a nice touch. The bar & restaurant areas were most inviting & the staff (especially our young waiter) were friendly & attentive. My only criticism is that the lunch menu seemed more varied than the dinner one. It just so happened that there was more on that that we fancied. However, it does indicate that the menu is changed often.

Popped in for dinner for 2. We enjoyed the surroundings and the staff were good. My meal was tasty and well prepared, but pricey at £25. My partner's ribeye wasn't a good meal and the steak was tough. It was ok, but not worth the price tag.

A pity - it would have been nice to have a local to return to while spending more than a week in the area.

Its some time since we've been to the Brigands Inn, and decided to return - we drove over Bwlch y Groes, the highest road pass in Wales, with views of the Aran ridge to get to the Brigands Inn. The drive was well worth it as we had an excellent meal. We started with bread, olives & dips all good, then the chef's excellent amuse-bouche and moved on to rack of lamb with lamb hash, broad beans.. The lamb was succulent, the best lamb I've had. Deserts were fine too. If I had to be picky, the lighting at our table was poor and the service could have been more attentive. However we enjoyed dinner and will return.

We called into the Brigands on the off chance whilst on the way south to Builth Wells. It was a Friday night but they got us a table (for 2.) The service was friendly and fast. We only ordered a main, as we still had a way to travel. Whilst waiting we were given a Bouche (small cup of exquisite soup) and bread.
The main meal arrived. Husbands steak was cooked to perfection and I loved the fishcake with caper sauce.
Beautiful place, excellent service, amazing food and reasonably priced.
Will definitely call again, and might even stay the night.

We were on our way to Aberdovy for a couple of days and as we had left home early decided to call at Brigands Inn for a coffee. We had passed the Inn several times and had wanted to call there before but we were always in a rush. Today was different, we had time to call in. We had seen the advertising boards along the road on big boards saying Open all day, open for coffee.....

We were in luck, the front door was open and pushed back, we entered through a further door into the bar. We could see some guests were having breakfast. A young lady was behind the bar and came to us. We asked if we could have some coffee but she said they were closed till 9.00 o'clock.! (it was 8.15) we couldn't believe it, we were so disappointed.

We would like to know why Brigands Inn were advertising that they served coffee, and was it too much to serve two cups of coffee when they were clearly serving breakfast to guests? Perhaps the management could change their signs, and insert a time when they are serving coffee.... further on we passed a village pub which had a sign saying "coffee served from 8.30 am".... great! We won't bother calling at Brigands Inn in future, we will just carry on to the other pub.
