Eco Retreats

We have never really been a camping family and were a little worried about certain things (mainly the toilet and comfort). However we had a fantastic time.

The River Yurt was in a beautiful position, the children were able to discover the river and its surroundings without us having to worry about where they were. It was lovely for the birds to wake us up in the morning with their song and to see the tree through the skylight. The children loved the welcome pack, especially the hot chocolate, and the fact that the welcome tent sold marshmallows impressed them immensely.

We loved having an open fire and are now hoping to get a log burner installed in our house! It was a pleasure to have no mobile signal and no electricity as it allowed us to interact fully as a family, playing cards and reading.

We were really impressed with the special touches - the star guide, pack of playing cards, extra tealights and large selection of lanterns. When we asked our 3 children (ages ranging from 8 - 12) what they would want added to the experience one of them replied "a yurt in the back garden". The only thing I could think of to add would be a chest of drawers so the clothes mess was a little more manageable (but perhaps that's just my family) and perhaps a camping table to match the camping chairs provided.

We had such a great time and wanted to thank you for providing us with such a wonderful experience. I just asked my 10 year old daughter if she wanted to say anything about her half term holiday and she said "Brilliant!" which I think sums it up for us all!

Although weather was bad we had a really great time in our tipi. The setting is absolutely stunning and the tipi's are brilliantly stocked with everything you would need. Total seclusion and relaxation.

A wonderful experience, the words that best sum up the chilled break we had. From a warm welcome after a long journey, to a walk by the stream up a hill past some sheep to our tipi, to reiki, to wood chopping, fire making and meditation so much done yet chilled.

I can wait to go back to the calm and beauty of Eco Retreats

I booked the trip as a Christmas/ 1st wedding anniversary gift for my husband and it is one of the best things we have done! The location is truly idyllic and being in the forest tipi we didn't have to see anyone else unless we looked down to them! They have the perfect mix of comfort and outdoor experience- we could chop our own logs and go for muddy walks in the hills but come back and drink wine in front of the roaring fire whilst sitting on a sheep skin rug! The fact that we were there just days after heavy snow made it all the more magical! Even the rather cold outdoor shower was great fun... we can't wait to go back.

We stayed 2 nights with EcoRetreats and didn't want to leave. We were in a tipi and built fires in our chimnea morning and evening. We were staying at the beginning of April and there was still a bit of snow around but it was exceedingly cosy with the fire roaring.

The thought that has been put into the place is clear. Everything that you might need is provided and the tipis themselves feel cosy and somewhat luxurious, without being extravagant. The site and the area surrounding it are incredibly beautiful. We'll definitely be going back.

My partner booked this holiday last minute for a weekend away from our busy work life. The location is idyllic and truly absolutely stunning! It's a long way from the main road down a forestry road. Each Tipi seems to look very private. You wouldn't be able to tell anyone else is around! We stayed in Waterfall tipi and would definitely choose it if we came again.

We arrived late but there was a very nice note on the gate directing us to our tipi and a welcome message and pack in the tipi giving us instructions for how things work. We were visited (not too early) the next morning just to check we were ok, then left to our own devices for the rest of the stay.

The tipi was well equipt. A nearby log store and axe kept us going with our log burner and we had a campfire next to the tipi on another night. They have pans and utensils you can borrow for the tipi.

We would definitely consider another visit!

We were fortunate to win a 2 night stay at Eco Retreats and we are now trying to work out when we can return.

We had been past their turning numerous times over the years going to other places and not realised what we were missing.

You are grateful for their signs as you drive through the forest and are then greated and shown to your tipi. We had the one at the very top of the site and if we hadn't seen the others you'd have thought no one else was around.

Everything is there for you so you don't have take a thing expect maybe a book and a attitude of relaxtion.

Whilst there I would recommend a trip to the Centre for Alternate Engergy nearby as it opens your eyes to a few things. Then the choice is yours - we walked and went to the beach but we'd have been quite happy to not move from the tipi for 2 days.

Book now - you'll love it.
