This is by far the best B@B we have stayed at. The evening meals prepared by Paul are a joy, local produce cooked with loving care and attention to detail-the breakfast will keep you going all day. Afternoon tea and cake is served in the garden in good weather. The bedrooms are splendid, huge comfortable beds, good bathrooms and views-the drawing room is a homage to victoriana as is the rest of the building which has ben restored with loving care by Paul and John.Your hosts are attentive and a delight to chat with. We have stayed at the Vicarage four times over the last two years and look forward to many more relaxing weekends with Paul and John.

We iust spent 3 nights at this beautiful hotel that Paul and John have so lovingly restored to it's Victorian splendour. Engaging hosts and beautiful surrounding countryside; the perfect combination. Jon and Warren, Didsbury, Manchester.

We can only concur with all the other reviews. This has to be one of the best B&Bs around. Everything about this place is absolutely spot on. The decor, ambiance, food & overall experience make this a real treat and an escape from the hurly-burly of modern life. Paul & John are the most delightful & entertaining hosts & the food can only be described as top-notch.
Having stayed only recently we are already in the throes of planning another visit! Can't wait.

Room Tip: Amazingly large brass 4 poster in the Burlinson roon

An imposing Gothic vicarage with deep warm colours and smells and beautiful gardens. From the distance it looks like it could play a part in a Hammer Horror movie. When you enter it's a bit like stepping back in time; it quite clearly has been painstakingly and joyfully restored beyond even its former glory. John and Paul give the impression that they love having guests there and we appreciated the fact that we weren't made to feel like we had to leave by a certain time. Excellent cooked breakfast - which they helpfully served ludicrously early on a Sunday morning to accommodate our schedule - was complemented by all sorts of home made stuff and in the evening you can dine there, which we did.

I was down there for an epic cycle ride and the day after the ride it was lovely to just feel the sun in the garden and chill in the handsome drawing room. All that's missing is a vicarage cat. I hope we are lucky enough to return there. Really recommended.

Room Tip: We had the Green Price room which has a bath as well as a shower. If you're a walker or a cyclis...

Working our way along Offa's Dyke, this was our second visit to The Old Vicarage with friends. Once again the food and company were exceptional and the peace and tranquility were just what was needed after a hard day's walking.

Room Tip: All the rooms are fantastic!

This really is a wonderful place to stay. John and Paul could not be better hosts. Their kindness and attention to every detail is remarkable. The house is beautiful and continually being lovingly kept fresh and comfortable. It is worth mentioning that the area itself is not only full of natural beauty, but also full of history and wonderful old towns such as Ludlow and Hay-on Wye. This makes The Old Vicarage is the perfect place to spend time and relaxing, walking, eating, and exploring. There is also a self catering cottage which is charming and restored to the same high standard as the main house. We will keep going back just to soak up the atmosphere of the house and the area.

This was our second visit to this wonderful place. The house has been lovingly restored in Victorian style, set in immaculate gardens with views of the Radnorshire hills. John and Paul are great hosts and made us feel extremely welcome and pampered. Home-cooked breakfasts, afternoon teas and dinners are delicious with local produce and ingredients and a well-chosen wine list. I'd echo the many other positive reviews. We will definitely return as soon as we can!
