The Royal Oak is a cosy pub, especially in the colder months with its open fire, run by friendly staff and full of fascinating locals.
The food is good and wholesome, though one does not need to be in a hurry! The bar is very dog friendly.

We called in to the Royal Oak for lunch last sunday and both enjoyed it very much. There was a choice of two meats and there was plenty of veg which was all nicely cooked and served with a smile. My only disappointment was that there was no treacle sponge and custard left but the lemon cheesecake more than made up for it! The new owners have made much needed improvements to the toilets and furnishings and the installation of the wood burner has made the place feel really cosy.

Six of us, including a ten-year-old, enjoyed a great meal at this pub, during its normal Wednesday night's curry evening. The food was well cooked, efficiently served, and good value. It was a cold evening, and we took a while to warmup, but we would go back again if we were in the area.

We had been staying in the area not so long ago and we were recommended this pub by a couple of the locals so decided to give it a go one night. Its a cosy and quaint pub with the menu offering a range of different things for good value to. We both went for the Sirloin steaks which were beautiful and cooked just how we liked them. Unlike a lot of places our steaks came with all trimmings like tomato, mushroom, peas, onion rings and at a very reasonable price of £12.50 as well. It's well worth a visit, you won't go home hungry that's for sure.
