Visited the museum with two friends . Really helpful staff and great experience. Plenty to see and very informative and entertaining audio tour . Much more to the building than you would ever guess from just looking at the outside, if in doubt go in based on our visit you won't be disappointed. Superbly restored using authentic materials.

What a fascinating unusual and lovely museum.
Very pleasant helpful staff. You can touch all the exhibits even though they are the original pieces! Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed this museum from ages 5 to 75. We read the children's guide book as we visited the rooms for interesting facts for the younger visitors. They found the horrid history type facts great. We spent nearly 3 hours in here and would highly recommend it.

Love the fact you can touch, smell, explore... The audio is really good so I'm told. As a hearing aid user who'd forgotten my induction loop I couldn't use the headphones. They did manage to provide me with a transcript though.

My grandsons aged 7 & 3 had a brilliant time. Parking is easy. This is a real gem and worth making a special effort to see.

This museum has one very unusual feature - you are encouraged to touch, sit on and handle all the exhibits. Absolutely nothing is "out of bounds" The history is explained by means of an audio with earphones which can be switched on and off at the listeners behest! After seeing the Judge's quarters you are then taken on an audio guided tour of the cells which have been left exactly as they were found. The "tour" ends in the courtroom where you listen (without the earphones) to a short trial of a duck thief! (a real case). You need to allow at least 1 1/2 hours for the visit. The women in the ticket office are very knowledgable about its history and we spent at least half and hour chatting with them. It was a wonderful way to spend our last morning.
