“Can't wait to go back!”
Reviewed 15 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

The Haybarn was the ideal holiday property for our two family group. We arrived to find it clean with plenty of space for two cars or more. Our group consisted of adults, young children and teenagers and we found it homely and welcoming. The sociable, open plan living space allowed us to keep an eye on the children whilst preparing meals and the additional fridge downstairs meant we were able to store food and drink for all of us. The house was quirky with lots of character which suited us. The garden had plenty of space for the little ones to play and the secluded location was very peaceful. With the town and supermarkets within 5 minutes drive of the house we found it very easy to get provisions, the young children loved the nearby castle & ruins too. We arrived home today and have already made enquiries to book a longer stay next year, so that we can make further trips to the beach which is only an hour away and explore the surrounding areas more.

“Could be better.”
Reviewed 27 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

This could be a lovely venue if some investment was put into the property as it seemed 'tired' when we stayed. A good lick of paint would be a start. We had to clean the kitchen on our arrival as it was still dirty and the fridge was not practical for the size of the place. All the rooms had cobwebs in and NO TOILET ROLL!

“Curates Egg”
Reviewed 24 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

Good points are the location as it is in the countryside up a quite lane and you can walk straight out into the countryside and up the hill to Offas Dyke. Also close enough to the town to get in and out easily. Ample parking and a good size garden which gets the sun. Internally there is plenty of space for 6-8 people. Wi-Fi works OK
However there has been a clear lack of investment. Newish carpet and sofas in living area but every other part of the property is 'tired'. It needs redecorating and there are cobwebs and dust everywhere. In our bedroom there was a thick layer of dust on all the side lamps and furniture. The cleaning is very poor with the fridge in a disgusting state when we arrived, the door of which is broken internally and will not hold any bottles. For a large party the fridge is too small. There are not enough wine glasses to go round and all the cutlery and crockery is a mismatch as if it has come from a charity shop. The pillows are very cheap and thin with just a single sheet over a rough looking mattress (no mattress protector). The previous week's sheets were wet and still in the washing machine. Also beware unlike other cottages we have stayed, no tea towels and no toilet paper to start you off. A little more effort and some investment could transform the property, but currently lagging any of the other properties we have stayed at

Management Response
28 May 2015
We are really sorry you had a bad experience at The Haybarn as we have put a lot of time and effort into getting it right. Had we been made aware of the issues upon your arrival we would have taken steps to rectify the superficial problems and improve your stay.

We recently moved to a new cleaner and unfortunately, it seems that they are not up to the task. As well as cleaning, they are meant to replace any broken crockery etc. and report upon tired bedding or other problems to ensure guests have a good experience. Having moved away from the area we rely on trust to ensure our high standards are maintained and obviously need another individual working for us. Also, having received only good reviews of late we were not aware things have slipped. Thank you for bringing this to our attention as it gives us a good chance to rectify things before the Summer holiday guests arrive.

“Fantastic Cottage. Great Location”
Reviewed 5 February 2015 for a stay in January 2015

After looking forward to a weekend break I was not disappointed. The cottage was large and spacious yet also cosy and warm. The wood burner did a great job of keeping a very large room very hot and the open plan kitchen had everything we needed,
The bedrooms were large and clean and the beds were comfortable.
Great place for a large family gathering because of the open plan living space allowing everybody to be together but not cramped.

“Great for a gathering of family/friends”
Reviewed 4 February 2015 for a stay in January 2015

We stayed at The Haybarn in January for a family get together. The house has a very spacious seating area with a log burning stove which was very cosy. The kitchen is well equipped for large groups and there was plenty of room for us all at the dining table. This property is great for large groups and is well situated for getting out into the countryside/walking.

“Great relaxing holiday in beautiful location!”

We booked a long weekend at the HayBarn and it was great! The location is stunning and the house is very cosy... a little bit rustic but we felt very at home...especially with the dog who loved her first holiday away. The HayBarn is easy to find and well located for day trips to the coast and midwales... Montgomery for afternoon tea is a must! The house was clean and well equipped and we would certainly stay there again. Getting home after a long walk with the dog and sitting in front of the log fire in front of the rugby... Does life get any better?!

“Great place to relax”
Reviewed 3 May 2013 for a stay in April 2013

We stayed here with a group of 7friends and the house was very spacious. There are neighbours under the same barn roof, but on the other side, so we didn't notice them at all.
It has a kitchen with all amenities, a large table for everyone to sit at and a huge living area, with a fire. There is a safety rack front of the stairs to the bedrooms, in case you have little kids.
We had a shower leaking, so that was unfortunate ( for the water spilling) but they would have someone to fix it after the weekend. The bedrooms were good and beds were comfortable.
Another review said something about the road. It actually was being fixed whilst we were there. It caused us some logistical problems the first evening, but we sorted it out the next day.
TIp We had put the postcode in the satnav, but it doesn't take you to the house, the directions (after talking to our friends) were clearer.
Overall I'd say that I would have liked to stay longer to see more of the area! It was lovely and very relaxing!
