I thought I would write a review as we have stayed at the Royal Oak quite a few times and some of the reviews below dont represent the Oak that we know. Yes I think that some of the rooms still need refurbishing but they are cheaper ( i think theyre called standard rooms) and there are plenty of other lovely refurbished rooms to choose from - the online booking page on the website shows the difference. We have always found the staff freindly and helpfull and the food and whole feel of the place is great. I have had a problem with the free wireless access once as the walls seem a bit thick but reception sent me up a wire to plug the laptop into the network connection in the room. The other time (different room) the wireless worked fine. So in conclusion its a great place that I would recomend.
