Staff, without exception, were lovely. Room was excellent (apart from waste paper bin used to keep wardrobe doors shut!). Generous dinner allowance of £19.50. Meals reasonably priced. Our starters were excellent, but the main course disappointing (over cooked), generous portions.
As many of the reviews state, you do need to choose your room carefully to avoid the late night noise. Overall the accommodation, service and comfort offered is amazing for the price tag. We felt very comfortable here and would not hesitate to return and also to recommend it to others.

Stayed for 1 night, and although late getting there, I rang and was able to order food over the phone to be ready on arrival even though the kitchens were technically closed. Great food and great accommodation. Would definitely stay again if in the area.
Car park is easy to miss but once found is big enough to accommodate.

We stayed here for one night after reading the reviews on line. The hotel was easy enough to find and car parking not a problem.
Welshpool is in a lovely part of the world and the inn is very centrally placed with historic Powis Castle close by. Our room was adequate, if somewhat stuffy, with a soft but rather small bed which had polyester bedding, but the bathroom was fine and everything seemed to work o.k.
Unfortunately, to get some air into the room, we had to open the window which gave us our worst nights sleep ever due to hoards of drunken yobs and yobbets shouting and singing until the very early hours of the morning (not the fault of the hotel I suppose!) One particular female must have had the mother of all hangovers next day!!.......however, the breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day.

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the back of the hotel if you want a good nights sleep!

I've stayed at this property several times, most recently in January and March 2014 for a total of 2 1/2 weeks while on business. The bedrooms I've had this year (208 and 212) were both clean and comfortable. You may have to let the hot water run a few extra seconds until it's hot enough to use, but I've always had hot water. The staff in reception are very helpful and pleasnt. The restaurant for breakfast was adequate, dinner was very good with several selections to choose from. Special thanks to Stu, Ffion, John, Sophie, Shannon, and Tom. They all looked after their customers well. The public men's room is clean but in need of air fresheners.

I see lots of comments about the car park, and it is easy to drive straight past its entrance, but at least it has one and eventually you do find it, and come on, it only takes 2 minutes to go all the way around the one way system - this is Welshpool not London!

My room was on the second floor at the back of the hotel and I had no noise whatsoever, I slept very soundly. The room was very clean and tidy and both the room and en-suite were a good size.

The food was very good, I ate in the restaurant one evening and had cooked breakfasts both mornings. The staff were lovely, very friendly and always happy to chat, whether in the bar, behind the front desk, or serving in the restaurant.

The location is right in the middle of Welshpool which is surprisingly busy, lots of shops, pubs and cars so I can see why people at the front of the hotel would hear noise. During the day we walked to Powys castle which is well worth a visit. From the hotel walk about 200 yards up the main street, take a left where signed and within 2 minutes you are walking through a lovely deer park for about half a mile all the way to the castle.

Room Tip: second floor, overlooking the car park for a peaceful night

Just got back from this hotel, had great room 112, very good for heavy sleepers, lots of good fresh food and great staff, its worth a try if passing through Welshpoo
Lots of things are written about this hotel so i sugest you try it out and enjoy the place the car park is around the back of the hotel and the reception will give you a map of how to get there sd its not a problem. the food was very good indeed and at a very fair price si if you are on a budget its a great help. I do hope you enjoy this hotel and its staff.

Room Tip: 112 is the best and biggest room but it is on the front so you do get noise but great for heavy slee...

Took my wife & kids for a meal here one evening and I must say the food was very disappointing.

We were greeted by a nice lady who made us feel welcome and got us a table fairly quickly. However the actual quality of the food was very poor.

My burger (yes a simple burger) was burnt & my wifes pasta dish was very bland.

A real shame, from the outside this looks like a very good establishment
