Another Barry establishment where I didn't even as far as eating. Arrived at 18.15, looked into the courtyard where a young chef was busy picking herbs. "are you open yet?", "yes come in, we're new and just taken over, I'll get the waitress for you". Shortly afterwards a young lady came flouncing out "we're not really open yet" she barked. You'll have to wait!" If that was her attitude we decided not to bother and walked out. The young chef was welcoming and charm itself but all his good work undone in seconds by a waitress who couldn't care less.

Visited this restaurant 3 times during our two week stay. The meals were delicious on each visit, price also reasonable.

Went for Sunday Lunch based on the good reviews.

The positives: The price, and the staff. Reasonably priced menu, and every team member we encountered was helpful, which is a really nice touch and so important in making a lasting first impression.

Our starters (Shrimp Cocktail and Pate) were absolutely lovely. The main course, not so. Specifics (which may be down to it being a very busy Sunday). Meat not tender enough, and lacked some taste. Food arrived warm, vegetables arrived a little after. By the time it was all on the plate, lukewarm at best. A pet hate of mine, though others may not be bothered.

Desserts were nice. I would go again, when we want to treat ourselves to a mid week lunch. I would not go back for Sunday Lunch as the main course was not to our liking. Even in this small town there is a lot of competition in the Sunday Lunch arena.

Don't be put off trying it, my grumbles may be irrelevant to how another may judge things. The staff certainly make you feel welcome and there is plenty of choice beside the Sunday Lunch.

I'm a vegetarian and felt well-catered for - veggie choices for lunch were delicious, but could have done with something other than soup as a starter. My friend had chicken liver pate which is apparently made at the restaurant, and a very filling spag bol. Great wine on the list too.

Excellent prices too £10 for two course lunch. We ate outdoors, such a sunny day, and discovered the only drawback - the restaurant is on a very busy corner, cars and lorries passing by all the time.
