After a stressful day driving from Kent to Barry and an emotional day of hospital visits, it was a comforting feeling to be welcomed at the pub by my friendly host, Ian, and his friendly, helpful staff. I was shown my room and en-suite which were bright, modern and spotlessly clean, with a variety of toiletries in the bathroom and generous supplies of tea, coffee and indulgent biscuits on the courtesy tray. The bed was really comfortable and the view across the fields was relaxing. Although it is situated in the countryside it was easy to find and close to Barry and Cardiff airport. The benefit of its location is the peace and quiet. There is a warming log fire in the bar. In the restaurant the service was excellent, with the friendly, helpful staff eager to please. Wednesday is steak night and, being Wednesday, I chose the rib-eye, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The menu offers typical British pub food. The cooked breakfast was excellent, with 2 poached eggs which were perfectly cooked, not hard, not watery and not too runny, Orange juice, toast and coffee or tea are on offer, although no fresh fruit, which was a disappointment. I should definitely stay here again and recommend its pub accommodation.

Room Tip: My room, number one, is a twin, although the beds can be pushed together. It has a bright, good-size...

We've visited the Three Horseshoes many times over the last 20 years, but we've been disappointed in its constant decline.

Our last visit was the last straw, and we won't be visiting again.

I ordered food, and due to the fact we were sitting in the pods outside, I was asked to pay before the meal. As I mentioned above, we are regular visitors here, and this just feels like they don't trust us.

The meal we had, chicken vindaloo, beef dupiaza, gammon and chicken nuggets was very average, and made worse when a party of kids with 4 adults sat around us, disturbing our quite family night out.

The waitress serving us dropped some chips while placing our meals, but didn't offer to replace them. We were never asked during or after the meal, if we were enjoying the meal. My wife was very unimpressed with the beef dupiaza.

The general atmosphere of the place was dreadful, with my 13 year old daughter (and indeed, my wife) asking when can we leave!

I certainly won't be visiting here again, at least for a few years, to see it it improves.

We stayed here on our way back from football match in Swansea. Room was very comfortable, and clean. Food is locally sourced and cooked to order. Was too full after main meal to try delicious looking deserts. Breakfast was tasty and filling. Set us up for the day. Very friendly staff. Will definitely be staying here again next season when playing away at Cardiff and Swansea.
