“Great Beach”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

Have not been to Barry Island for many, many years so it was with great suprise that i saw the beach looking so clean and busy. The sea doesnt go out to far which was a bonus as my twins were in and out like snails in a shell, although if you are expecting blue clean waters then you will be very dissapointed, here they are brown and dirty The snack bars and takeaway food bars are only a short walk up from the beach which again was a huge bonus and all were very, very busy. Toilets are very clean and kept very nice which i thought was fantastic, people were also very heplful if there was an issue around this area. there were also areas where you could wash yourself and your children off once you had left the sandy beach, another great feature.
The one problem I did have and i thought it let the whole area down was the amount of litter being left on the beach once people had left. Families who were there for the day were just leaving empty cartons, crisp packets bottles etc etc on the beach when there were bins available to place their rubbish in. Due to all this wate being left it was being taken out to sea and floating around where people were swimming, which was very un pleasant and in some cases dangerous. Would I go back possibly, would I recommend yes if your not expecting to much, does the issue of rubbish need addressing, most definatly.

“The real Truth”
Reviewed 27 July 2014 via mobile

Went here on 26/7/14...the beach is nice. There it stops. The whole place needs a revamp. Overpriced and living on the fact that Gavin and Stacey was filmed there. Living on this fact will not save this once great seaside town. I wish I had stayed on the M4 on gone to Tenby

A wonderful place for all ages, clean beaches, lots of walking opportunities, funfair & arcades. Spoilt for choice for eating & drinking. Great for dogs but be aware they are not allowed on the beach from May to September!!

“A real shame”
Reviewed 24 July 2014

I visit Barry Island very regularly during the winter months with my children and dog. I took the children there today and was appalled by the lack of care that other beach users displayed. The beach was covered in litter! I honestly believe the beach is cleaner when dogs are allowed to roam free. We won't be back until the dog can join us.
