We stayed here for a couple of nights, when we were attending the rugby finals in Cardiff. It was perfectly situated to get the train in to the city, and also for walking into Barry for food. The staff are really friendly, and the full welsh breakfast a delight. The rooms were clean, and tastefully decorated and really comfy beds. A real little gem.

Had a lovely welcome but only had a one night stay. But we will defiantly stay here again next time we visit Barry. Good very clean rooms, fantastic breakfast and entertainment from the 2 ladies, my partner loved the home made marmalade. Very good coffee and loose leaf tea.

We visited Barry for a weekend away and my boyfriend had chosen Aberthaw House Hotel from its good reviews. Our experience was just as positive - the service was very friendly, the room and ensuite spotlessly clean and the bed comfortable. The full English breakfast was unremarkable but tasty.

I stayed at the Aberthaw for two nights in a double room. Staff very friendly and helpful, charming Victorian town house with bar and restaurant. My room was a good size with nice view over Barry and to the sea. Everything in the room very presentable if not a little dated, bed very comfortable and warm. Breakfast was excellent with a full Welsh breakfast which was good quality produce ( and I am quite fussy about those kinds of things) cereals and freshly squeezed orange juice tea and coffee, and very nice toast with homemade preserves which were lovely. I would defiantly recommend this place 9/10

My sister and I traveled from America to meet our Barry relatives for the first time ever. Our cousin in Barry recommended the Aberthaw House and I am so glad he did (and that we listened!). Our room was comfy, clean, and cozy - on the top floor but worth the steps. We loved the atmospheric intimate little bar, where we made friends with a delightful Scottish couple, and with owner Helen and her family members as well. The dining room was bright and cheerful and the food just plain outstanding. Everyone was extraordinarily hospitable, helpful, accommodating, warm, and friendly, and could not have done any more than they did to make our stay pure pleasure. Truly we felt more like the houseguests of a good friend than foreign strangers paying for lodging! If I were fortunate enough to return to Barry, I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere other than the Aberthaw House Hotel. By the way, don't judge by the pictures, as they really don't do justice at all to this charming little hotel!

Room Tip: The twin room at the very top has a lot of steps to get there but plenty of cheerful morning light a...
