“Nice food”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

This was our second visit to The Bute restaurant and we had taken friends and we were not disappointed. The restaurant was busy and there was plenty of people in drinking making it a bit too loud to chat easily.

The food was fantastic, however it is a different menu from what is available to view on their website. The waiting staff were slow at times and we were left waiting a while to order but they were full so understandable.

“Not my type of place.”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

Went in for a drink and was hoping to eat but I could not eat in a place with the music so loud. Also the barren décor is not my scene. The staff were laissez faire and it did not encourage me to return.

“Decent Food”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

Came here on a Friday evening and it was full, which is always a good sign and also added to the atmosphere.

Very simple, modern decor, it looks very nice inside. The tables feel private which is good. Staff were friendly and helpful, perhaps sometimes it felt like they were bordering on being a bit airy fairy, but that's still better than rudeness and nonetheless they were helpful.

The food itself was reasonably priced - I spent around £22 on 3 courses. Even though the menu isn't vast, I felt like there was a good selection and something to suit everyone, from a nachos or goats cheese parcel starter, to a burger, pizza, gnocchi or pork belly with roasted vegetable mash as your main. The food tasted very nice and service took a good amount of time - we wasn't sat waiting forever but our courses weren't being rushed out one after the other either.

All in all an enjoyable evening and worth a visit if you're nearby.

“Good food, service OK”
Reviewed 31 March 2014

Visited the Bute twice in recent months. We both had very nice food at each visit, but were disappointed that the menu had changed recently before our second visit as we were looking forward to the sharer starter of ribs, haloumi cheese, nachos etc which we had on our fist visit, along with a number of other starter and mains that were previously on the menu. Still very good food and generous portions, and on both occasions I had a very juicy and thick rump.

Service on our recent visit was slower, but it was busy as it always is on weekends. Once ordered, the food arrived in good time. Not the cheapest place for food and drink, but a great addition to Pontyclun.

“Not enjoyable”
Reviewed 30 March 2014 via mobile

The staff's attitude is very much "not many here so chef has decided to close kitchen" at 19:30! Food is pub food car crash at bistro prices. Not sure how long any business can keep going by teating customers so badly.
