We traveled to Miami in May for a relaxing trip and that is exactly what we got! We were so pleased with the room and the location was close to the beach and within walking distance to everything we needed. The staff got us anything we needed wirhin a matter of minutes and the poolside bar was awesome. We could not have asked for a better few days to get away. We are planning another trip this May.

It's being marketed as a hotel, but they don't really know how to operate a hotel.

The building is nice, new and pretty well designed. Although all the furniture and bathroom fixtures were probably brought in with a few containers of OK reproductions directly from China, the "hotel" looks the part. Everything is on a very small scale, starting with the plot of land they built on. From the driveway to the rooms and the pool, I felt as though I was in Japan.

The staff although courteous, have their hands tied. The front desk agents despite being polite, aren't necessarily trained at all, housekeeping don't even have carts and the maintenance guys don't really know how to work anything in the building. There is something to be said for the training a new property with new staff receive from a chain such as Starwood or Hilton which this place did not have the benefit of.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom ocean view suite, and as with most properties it was a partial view as expected. We specifically chose this hotel because it offered a full kitchen and laundry machines, which I guess it did. There was a refrigerator, a dishwasher, stove and combination microwave/oven as well as a washing machine with a built in dryer that doesn't dry. There weren't any kitchen utensils, pots or pans, soap for the dishwasher or washer/dryer, no kettle, can opener etc... Of all the hotels we have stayed in with kitchens (Starwood vacation ownership, the Stowe Mountain lodge, Residence Inn, Element etc..) all of these items were included. When we mentioned this to the front desk, we were abrasively told to go to Walgreens across the street. The only items later provided to us were 1 pot without a lid, 1 pan and a couple of spoons (which were previously well used). So, on the first day of our vacation, off I went to buy soap for the dishwasher and washing machine, and some items for the kitchen to make it useable.

Too many things seemed unfinished - and this was in all the rooms. There are 2 tracks for curtains, but only one curtain (no sheer privacy curtain to let in some light). The closets don't have bars installed to hang anything. Towels for us and all the guests were a MAJOR issue throughout, I guess they just didn't know how many to buy. Upon a walk through the garage, I saw their commercial laundry facility for towels for the entire hotel - 2 residential washing machines.

This property is a time share facility. There is a sales office in the lobby selling the "hotel rooms". As with us, non owners can stay at the property where I assume the revenue is split between management and the owners.

I still gave a good review because this place has potential and it really is up to management to improve and make this property a success. If lack of service doesn't bother you, and you want a modern room on the beach in this area, go for it. We still had a nice stay. It should be mentioned that we paid close to $400 per night for the lack of service and amenities.

Our original booking was for the Saturday to Monday and we had such a great experience that we extended our stay for another three days. Service was outstanding, staff was friendly and courteous could not have been nicer. We were offered an up grade at check-in at a reasonable price and it was well worth it. Our suite was a one bedroom partial ocean view with a living room kitchenet. You had a view of the ocean from both rooms just sitting on the couch you didn't even need to go out on the balcony. Just wished that they had two chair on the balcony. Very modern and very clean.
Just a remarkable stay.

Our stay at Sole on the Ocean was simply fantastic. The hotel staff at check in were very organized, and the process took only minutes. Our room was perfectly appointed, and the accommodations were perfect for myself, my husband, and our teenage daughter with a room that has a private hallway, and then two seperate doorways. The beach was great, the pool also, and the gym facilities are nice and very clean. Alba has a very nice atmosphere for cocktails at night, overlooking the ocean, and the view from our room of the city lights was an amazing sight every night. The food at the pool bar was excellent, and the mojitos are the best in Miami! I would highly recommend this property to a family for a great Miami vacation. Close enough to South Beach, but also not difficult to get around or get to from any location. Close to great dining and entertainment.

It seems to me that some of the reviews posted are from people that never stayed in a decent 4 stars hotel and indeed their expectations are very low. I booked this as a four star hotel on a beach resort and expected all the usual amenities. Not a condo with cheap contemporary furniture and a poor daily maid service.
First of all this is not a new build hotel. It is an old condo cheaply converted to hotel/condo resort. As result the room are acceptable bur services are very poor and the lack of a good or any restaurant on site unbearable.
Housekeeping services extremely poor and inconsistent, not enough towels, walls to thin, staff too noisy on corridors, no ice, no safe, not enough clothing hangers, no robes. In one word this hotel is set up more as a mom and pop B&B. Everything very amateurish; you won’t find here the usual amenities and quality of service of a good 3- 4 stars hotel. Had two balconies with no chairs or table on any of them. There is no restaurant on site, no room service of any kind. The continental breakfast was the poorest breakfast I ever had in any hotel, ever, anywhere in North America or Europe. Although I have paid for room and breakfast I only tried it once and for the rest of the time I preferred to get my car and drive away for breakfast, which was very inconvenient and time consuming. Buffet breakfast, if you can call this a “buffet breakfast” consisted in few small plates with few days old, cheap quality croissants, some toast, some mushy fruit salad (probably most of it left over from the previous day), some juice, some cheap cereals, couples of yogurts and a really, really bad coffee. Overall, cheap ingredients, unprofessional presentation, insufficient selections and price wise a rip-off. Very disappointed. Never again. This is not a resort, this is a condo rental place where you go buy your grocery and do your meal or eat out . Swiming pool is the size of a small residential pool. Dont expect comfort and any luxuries here. Will be good for families traveling on budget.

My younger brother had his sons Bar Mitzvah and many family stayed at Sole. We visited one day to join them on beach. The valet was easy, service respectable and the hotel and presentation simple and colorful. The concierge was kind in answering questions and realized we were only there for 3 hours, not even as guest of the hotel and was kind enough to not charge us for the parking and valet. Thoughtful...there is no traffic on the extra mile...Thank you Tom and Sole.

My husband, myself and our 1 1/2 yr old son just returned from Sunny Isles Miami Florida 1 wk getaway. OMG. It was hot, hot, sunny, friendly, delicious, GREAT. Sole on the Beach is what made our journey most wonderful. The location couldn't be better. The amenities the hotel provide are so helpful, clean, quick. New, stylish. We couldn't thank them enough for hosting such a great place. The rooms are amazing. We stayed in rm 2004 which faced south, the beautiful bright blue ocean and sandy beaches. We had 2 balconies so that whether we were waking up in the morning brushing our teach or making a cocktail in the kitchen- we had a beautiful view of the ocean.
Our room had a huge couch, coffee table, kitchen, bar, chairs, fridge, stove oven, microwave, DISHWASHER and clothes WASHER/DRYER!!!!! With our young son, that came in handy like there is no tomorrow. We actually underestimated the need for a kitchenette, but what we got at this hotel was above and beyond.

Now let me say that my husband and i have been to several carribean, european and US trips; including cruises. We've never actuallys 'stayed' in Florida... just passed thru or stayed for a day. This year, we squeezed in our first family trip and chose Miami Florida to be on the safe side. We haven't travelled since becoming new parents, and were worried about how our little guy would react to heat/ hotels/ foreign food/ plane ride etc.
So we initially 'settled' for Florida, and chose Miami as my husband and i are just over mid 30's and craved some fun in the sun action of south beach, the Florida keys etc.

WELL, lets just say we have been travelling out of our ways for years and years. When everything we wanted in a vacation at any time of the Canadian year is right under our noses (literally).
We will be travelling to Florida Sole on the Beach on hopefully an annual basis... unless we buy a condo down south and visit the crew at Sole.
Our son fell in love with Allen (hi Allen!!) who was a genuinely friendly member of the resort we would see in the mornings during our breakfast. Our son Alex usually needs a moment or so to warm up to strangers... but took almost immediately to Allen and in fact, followed him around on the 4th floor to hug him, give him high 5's, smile, tickle and play sugar pack games. Allen was so patient, professional and genuine again- all at the same time. He too was extremely helpful and a veteran world traveller (we enviously believe) as he shared some great tips and stories with us. We felt comforted knowing that if we were in a pinch and had to get to someone totally resourful in the foreign city we were visiting, Allen wouldn't hesitate to help. We really hope to see him again (and look at his cool clothes too!!).
The rooms we soooo clean, kept clean, the front desk was helpful above and beyond. The front desk was cool, always friendly and NEVER too busy even when they looked busy to have time for you. Top notch... And one example, for example: We were on our way out for a Miami adventure and asked the front desk a question about something completely unrelated to their hotel. Milton went on the internet and printed off an entire information package for us, along with providing us with great tips. Wonderful!
The pool, beach, food, decor, location- just can't ask for anything more.
I can go on and on with what others may view as minor examples of our great time at Sole On The Beach, but when you are away from home and are used to having most everything your comforts of home can offer in a hotel ,,, its hard not to notice the little things and be over the moon that they occurred ever so naturally at this resort.
The little things make the big picture a truly wonderful thing.
Thank you to all the staff at Sole On The Beach for making our family's stay an easy, fancy, friendly and wonderful one! We will be back.
