We have been to the Indian Palace a few times now over the last couple of months and will continue to make the short trek from Leichhardt to enjoy the Indian cuisine.

The staff are welcoming without being intrusive and provide you with good advice in relation to your food choices.

The Beef Vindaloo was hot without being over the top and there was a great choice of entrees and other accompaniments. My wife loves the lemon rice.

It is nice to go to a restaurant and enjoy quality food in a clean environment. The various awards on the wall suggest we are not the only ones who think highly of this restaurant.

My partner and i love Indian food and eat at least once a week and often more. This place had lots of good reviews so we thought to pay a visit...smart! The prices are a bit high, so I normally have Indian as a treat. Try their the butter chicken - it's the best in Sydney!

This is my favourite Indian takeaway place in Balmain. They're easy to talk to over the phone when you make your order (or you can do it online) and they're incredibly quick to have it ready! If you have a certain way you want an order done, they have no problems being accommodating to your needs.

The servings are quite delicious. I haven't had one bad meal here yet! The prices are a bit high, so I normally have Indian as a treat.

Try their the butter chicken - it's the best in Sydney!

My partner and i love Indian food and eat at least once a week and often more. We were staying on Darling Harbour and were ecstatic to find such great reviews on here and also the prospect of another ferry trip which we had been greatly enjoying.Accordingly we took the ferry to East Balmain as we knew the restaurant was on Darling Street which was where the ferry dropped off. Be warned, it is a very good walk mostly uphill and so a bus or taxi may be preferable for those of an infirm nature!
Upon arrival we were greeted by the very pleasant staff and shown to a table in the middle of the busy restaurant. The menu offered the normal fare that you might expect from any Indian restaurant and so for starter we had the old staple of onion bhajis .We found these to be quite stodgy not unlike the ones you buy from uk supermarkets. For main course i had lamb madras which was great in the heat stakes but lacking the subtlety of spices i am used to from my local provider. Sadly my partner had a total misunderstanding with the ordering of her main course, the details of which i will not bore you with here! This resulted in the owner very kindly not charging us for this course which was really good of him.
In conclusion, I feel that we may have built up our hopes too highly after reading the comments on here only to find what i would describe as an adequate restaurant with excellent staff hence the average rating.

We are both veggies and were craving Indian food in Sydney. This place had lots of good reviews so we thought to pay a visit. It is located in area called Balmain, which by taxi was 15mins drive or you can also get a ferry from circular quay and walk up Darling street. The area itself is very pleasant, with lots of independent restaurants and cafes. There were a few thai and gelato places too.
But because we wanted specifically indian food we stayed here. It would be a good idea to book before you come as it gets very busy, there are also a lot of take away orders.
The menus are quite basic, the typical korma, bhunas etc. We had the large dosas were starters - which were enough to share between us. Then asked them to make us a paneer tikki masala and kofta dish. Both were delicious and the naans very good. The service was good and food filling. But there were other indian restaurants on this street and if willing would be a good idea to have a wonder and investigate others.
