Owner description: Whether you’re a history buff or know nothing of Manly’s history this tour is a must! It gives a snap shot of significant historical events & people since English settlement in 1788. We walk from the beautiful harbor of Sydney and wind our way through the oldest parts of the Village. You will hear fascinating stories about the First Fleet, Convict land grants, Castles, Who built Manly and much much more. A great way to relax and see Manly.

“Undercurrent Tour of Manly”
Reviewed 22 October 2012

Great initiative by Karen to take these tours of Manly. Having lived in Sydney for over 20 yrs, I wasn't really aware of Manly's evening attractions and its history. Karen gave us an entertaining intro to both. I came away realising why Manly has always had the feel of a holiday destination. That's because it was designed that way from the start when it was envisaged as a seaside resort by Henry Gilbert Smith in the 1850s, in the style of Brighton in the UK. Loved the tale of Thomas "Lemonade" Ley, the 'hanging' politician who laid the foundation stone of the Manly courthouse and was later convicted of multiple murders. One of the many tales, tall and true, surrounding Manly and its dubious origins as a smugglers' cove and escape route for runaway convicts. May Karen continue to develop her tours and make them even more vividly evocative of our city's 'undercurrents'.

“Ghost Tour of Manly”
Reviewed 22 October 2012

As a couple of locals we bought a voucher with friends from Living Social and it was a interesting, informative and "spooky" way to spend a few hours in the evening. Karen was also very organised and extremely helpful to deal with when establishing the dates and times via email. Even received a follow up email the day before about the weather. Well done Karen and thanks again for the very enjoyable friday night.

“Karen's Manly Undercurrent Tour”
Reviewed 7 October 2012

We have visited Manly many times to go to the beach or a walk on the Esplanade.

But Karen showed us parts of Manly that we did not know existed including fascinating history snippets..

Who would have know that Manly had an association with the wreck of the Dunbar..?

Karen's tour revealed the many secret bars and eateries in the little back lanes of Manly that we did not know existed that we will go back too.

Overall a great way to spend a few hours on a Sunday night!

“Discovering Manly”
Reviewed 9 September 2012

The day was absolutely freezing, the wind strong and bitter but Karen's tour of Manly was a joy. We have been frequent visitors to Manly over the years but loved the new insights Karen gave us. A little over an hour was just the right amount of time - Karen provided just the right amount of history peppered with just the right amount of "interesting yarns" - lots of fun! We have already recommended Karen to many friends who live or visit Manly ..... Thanks so much Karen.
