I was very excited to arrive in Sydney for my pink concert. Upon arrival at the motel they told me it was $100 bond and the outstanding amount of 428.00 - which had already been paid- after spending several minutes looking at the computer screen blanky the girl said oh yes it has been paid thats just a $100 bond- I was happy to pay. The next day I visited the zoo -checked my bank account and noticed 412.00 dollars taken-with no name. I got back to the motel and they confirmed they had taken it as a holding as my motel hadnt been paid but upon further viewing they saw it was paid but it was too late. I was also disappointed in their lack of accepting they made the mistake and that no apology was given until speaking to a manager and nearly asking for one! A week later and the money is still not available to me!

It saddens me to hear about the experience you had when you stayed with us. I can assure you that errors such as these are definitely not a common occurrence. None the less it made for a less than enjoyable stay for you and your family and for that I sincerely apologise.
It appeared that your bank would not release the funds as quick as they had agreed on, however after speaking with your mother via phone, I believe now the situation regarding the holding on your credit card has been rectified.
Please again accept our apologies and it is our wish that you will give us the chance to better serve you in the future.
I stayed here for 2 nights for my brother's wedding in Parramatta.. Here's what I think...
Good points: I really can't think of anything that would stand out, apart from the idea that they are part of Accor Hotels Group.. so you will expect standards..
Bad points: having to expect standards from one of the biggest and most prestige hotel groups in the world.. this one failed my expectation.. COCKROACH IS SIMPLY NOT ACCEPTABLE. I used to have this idea that when you see one that means you have more! I asked reception if bugs are normal complaints in their hotel like a random question and he said No, not at all.. I showed him the picture of the cockroach in our room and I was hoping to get more response than.. "that's strange...." or maybe askhousekeeping to prioritize our room coz when we got back in our hotel room around 1pm from an early stroll around the area, it was not cleaned still and yes the nasty half alive bug is still there... anyway...this hotel is about 20-30mins walk to the Westfield Parramatta mall where the main train station is and all restaurants and shopping can be found.,.. the pool and sauna needs some serious renovations... you can see from the bottom floor of the pool are stains and just yuck. there is a water feature in reception that is all lovely to the eye on arrival, but you should really stop guests throwing coins in the water, its not a wishing well! and oh yes... internet is expensive. ..... I wouldn't dare using the bath coz the bathtub tile was stained black from people using the shower..
TRAVELLERS Tip: good cheap shopping location in Church St.. and MUST TRY Lebanese Food in El Phonecian.. simply divine.

At Mercure Sydney Parramatta we take the health and wellbeing of all of our customers very seriously, I was very concerned to see your comments on cockroaches as this type of condition is not common here because of all of the precautionary work we do in this area. We work closely with a number of third party suppliers to ensure issues like these do not occur. From your comments and as an extra precaution we took the room out of order to have it inspected, I am happy to report that no evidence of cockroach problems were found but we did have the room retreated as a further precaution.
At Mercure, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. Hence the extra precautions taken.

We stayed 1 night to attend a function in the area. The staff were fantastic, really friendly. We booked a standard room which was okay in size, nice and clean. The bathroom was dated with mouldy tiles and the towels were so thin and grey. My old towels that I dry my dog with are in better condition. I don't mind that the hotel is dated but nice fluffy white towels and clean tiles do make it feel nicer. The pillows were as old as the towels, soft and flat.
We dined in the restaurant and the meal was lovely. The servings were huge and we struggled to finish the main course, maybe just order one course.
Breakfast the next morning was underwhelming I wanted to open the windows to get the stale cooking smells out of the room. There was a selection of various fruit, cereals and hot items, but it just did not justify the price.
