“Baby back ribs”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 June 2014

We were travelling for 12 hours already and were looking for a good place to eat. Since I haven't tried a smoke house yet, we stopped at this restaurant to have dinner.

When entering the restaurant, you will pass by a small "convinient store" selling a lot of stuff. Then you will see the restaurant, a person will be handing you out sample of the baby back ribs for you to taste with different sauces.

They were also offering buffet. But I am not that hungry, so we ordered the whole rack of baby back ribs.

It was perfectly cooked, and it was tasty with a generous serving of french fries on the side. You also have a lot of choices for the sauces if you are not satisfied with the sauce of the ribs. You will be amazed on how good the sauces they sell and serve.

You will also be amazed with the old fixtures they have.

Definitely the right choice for me.....

“Great country collectibles atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

We missed the live music the night we checked in late, but we ate breakfast the next morning before leaving. The front porch is filled with funky collections of old sinks & cypress seatings, inside the building offers even more items to look over.

Passing the smoked meats cooling as you walk to the restaurant area, you want to stop and look over all the country jams & preserves, BBQ sauce in all shapes & sizes and other items for sale. Country artists' autographed pictures line the walls and you can imagine how much fun this stop would be on a night when they are playing.

The breakfast buffet (which we both had vs. ordering from the menu) offered real eggs, bacon, sausage, fried potatoes, cheese grits, biscuits and pancakes. It's a bit disappointing to only have pre-packaged margarine and jam packets on the table, no half-& half for coffee and pay $23 for the meal, but it is what it is.
With all the BBQ sauces for sale and on the table, we figured dinner was probably a better menu, but we didn't have time to wait around.

We did REALLY like the "pets OK" policy of the Best Western on site and our room had vinyl flooring vs. carpet. It's definitely a stop we would make again, hopefully in time for dinner.

Thank you so much for all your positive comments about the Smoke House. Just want to let you know that the Jam packs served to the table are from our own Homemade jams, not from a big company. Margarine is for those who don't want butter, we serve real butter on request. Come back and see us on your return trip by Monteagle, and we do have real cream upon request. Thank you for your business.

“Buffet line and live music”

on Friday and Saturday nights are the draws for this place. The buffet is OK but not large variety. Mostly fried. Salad bar is not gigantic like some chain restaurants. The waiters are friendly and there is a gift shop.

Thank you so much for your review, we appreciate all comments and suggestions. Your comment was that our buffet is limited, wow, that is a rare comment because it has so large of a selection; 3 meats, 6 hot vegetables, 21 item salad bar, over 20 condiments, fresh homemade veg/beef soup, Smoke House skillet cornbread, and skillet cake dessert. No, we are not a cafeteria, but our buffet is awesome. We're really not known for our buffet anyway, we are known for our famous menu of Smoked meats like BBQ Ribs, Fried Catfish w/hush puppies, Smoked Beef Brisket, Smoked Chicken, Tennessee Country Ham, Breakfast all day, fresh fried pies & homemade ice cream. The buffet is good, fast, convenient, and all you can eat; we have customers who want that, our daily menu is great and has a large selection of good Southern cookin. All our cooking is based on generations of our family recipes. Serving Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner Everyday, 365 days a year, 6:30am to 9 pm.

“Enjoyable treat”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2014

This is one of my favor stops on the way home to Nashville. The buffet is a good value, good fresh, crisp salad fixings, fresh soup, iron skillet cornbread, Normally a choice of southern fried or barked chicken, pork barbecue, and catfish, and good ole southern cooking fixings.
If the buffet is not your calling ordering off the menu is a good choice also, a must try is the ribs.
The only downside is the main dining room is rather small, they can get very busy at peak times, and the service can not be the best
Take a moment to walk thru the store, ask question the staff is always willing to answer any question on their products. Sample some fudge at the cashier and enjoy.
