“Wonderful stay”

Right in the heart of town with magnificent accommodation and hospitality, Freeman on Ford was absolutely wonderful. The room was gorgeous and so was the rest of the accommodation - a beautiful pool and lots of lovely lounges to relax in. Heidi and Jim were extremely attentive and looked after every need including delicious home cooked brownies!

We were lucky enough to stumble upon Freeman on Ford B&B for a visit to country Victoria last month. Beechworth is exactly the sort of town we were looking for, and after two weeks of driving around exploring it is definitely an excellent choice for somewhere to base yourself when discovering the local wineries.

The Freeman building is centrally located, giving a large number of excellent restaurants, cafes and boutique shops within a five minute walk. Rooms are quiet despite being located on the main road.

The building has a fascinating history and has been lovingly restored - a plus for history buffs or anyone interested in Australia's past.

The services was excellent - you will feel very well looked after from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave.

Rooms were clean and lovely, breakfast was very good and cooked to a very high standard, and the pool area is rather lush.

One point to make though - I have come across two kinds of B&Bs, those where you are greeted at check in and at breakfast and don't see your hosts for the rest of your stay, and those where they hosts are constantly on hand to suggest, to assist, and to make you a tea or pour you a brandy if you wish. This is certainly the latter kind. I loved it all, but if you are a more private person looking for a quiet weekend of solitude, accommodation with less attentive hosts might be more to your liking. (Although you might miss out on meeting possibly the most interesting people in town).

Room Tip: The suites overlooking the pool are exquisite if you can afford them. The upstairs rooms are, howe...

My wife and I decided to stay here while we were touring the Beechworth and surrounding areas. From the very first moment we walked through the door, we were extremely impressed and felt very welcome. The decor is magnificent, with a period boutique style. The hosts were outstandingly friendly and helpful, and helped to create a personalised experience that we have not experienced from any other B & B to date. We had a great sleep in the comfortable bed. The breakfast was perfectly cooked and very delicious and was enhanced by the fact that we all sat around with other guests and the hosts to enjoy a friendly chat before we checked out. After staying here once, we know that we will be back time and time again for a nice relaxing retreat in a beautiful little town.

I still find it hard to believe what a wonderful few days we had at this beautiful establishment. We have never had the pleasure of being so warmly
and so professionally hosted and the facilities that have been created are without
peer. The afternoon tea and bedtime port were like putting the fairy on top
of the Christmas tree. The hosts are a truly delightful couple and a pleasure to
meet.
Thank you for a wonderful stay - we are already looking forward to the next
time.
Best regards
Ian and Glenda Koochew

We stumbled on this place by accident and we're so glad we did. Apart from it being impeccably serviced, we were so grateful for the social atmosphere that our hosts created. We actually got to interact with other human beings at the convivial breakfast table, or on the terrace overlooking the pool. We were spoilt with food and drinks. We will be coming back in autumn for the open fire and more good ol hospitality.

Room Tip: go for the front rooms overlooking the pool
