“A touch of Paradise!”
Reviewed 4 October 2012

By chance we stumbled on Albertines and couldn't believe what we had discovered. Seriously one of the best places I've stayed anywhere in the world. The attention to detail, the fantastic breakfast, the wonderful garden, the first class facilities, the gracious warm and very friendly hosts - all these aspects of our time at Albertines contributed to us having a excellent holiday in Beechworth. I would return to Albertines in a heartbeat and would recommend this B&B to any one without hesitation.

The garden was a delight, the spring flowering trees and gardens, the fountains, the beautiful places to sit and have coffee/wine and nibbles. A warm and friendly welcome, Albertines is luxurious and cosy and warm and welcoming. Meeting up with old friends and sippling wine and nibbles sitting in front of the fire. After dinner at the pub up the road home to sit in front of the fire again an sip muscat, it was a beautiful way to spend an evening with friends. We are already planning to go back, in the near future to see and enjoy the wonderful place that is Albertines. Oh and breakfast was amazing!

We had the pleasure of staying one night at Albertines and were delighted with the enthusiastic and warm welcome by Judy and Owen. The accommodation was exceptional and luxurious. The way in which the home is designed provides different spaces for guests to enjoy their privacy and each space is tastefully decorated with great attention to detail. A very unique place offering beautiful surroundings both inside and out. This was topped off by the superb breakfast and views of the garden. We would highly recommend a stay at Albertines if you love beautiful surrounding and great service.

This is certainly not your average B & B. While the web-site is comprehensive, pictures and words cannot adequately convey the ambience, and your expectations will without doubt be exceeded. Albertines has obviously been created by the owners as a labour of love rather than as a commercial enterprise. Everywhere you look you will find something beautiful and/or interesting. However a venue such as this doesn't work without good hosts. They are welcoming, happy, friendly, thoughtful and caring but never intrusive. We feel we have made two new friends and hope our return will be sooner rather than later.

Spending a week-end at Beechworth and surrounds and enjoying the exceptional hosptiality and high standard facilities at B&B, Albertines was the perfect way to escape from the everyday pressures of life!. Albertine"s hosts, Judy and Owen's friendly welcome and their attention to even the smallest of details ensured our stay was something special. The suite we stayed in was extremely clean, spacious, and well appointed including the beautiful linen and decanter of local muscat. Breakfast at the enormous dining table in the morning was a definite highlight. Match that with a multitude of local wineries, the amazing Provenance restaurant and historic buildings of Beechworth and you will be wanting to come back again and again.

Wanting B&B style accommodation in Beechworth, it was quickly apparent that Albertines would be our choice. On arrival we were welcomed by hosts; Judi and Owen as friends with hugs and hand shakes, shown around the house, given time to unpack then asked to join them in the lounge for afternoon tea (a sticky pear cake served on Royal Doulton china). While enjoying our cake and tea with the crackle of a log fire, Owen took the time to chat at length about the dinning options available in Beechworth.
I was expecting Albertines to be lovely, but lovely doesn't quite describe the effort and love that has been put into absolutely everything at this B&B. This accommodation is amazing, our room no 4,was perfect.Nothing had been forgotten. A comfortable bed, gorgeous bed linen, beautiful framed pictures and mirrors, bath robes and slippers, complimentary toiletries, even Lindt chocolates and port.
Breakfast (to die for), continued the theme of attention to detail, was served in the dining room at a table that would comfortably seat 16. A selection of cereals, freshly squeezed orange juice or local apple juice, compote of berries, poached strawberries or stewed apple, two selections of yoghurt; Greek or King Island, freshly baked muffins and this was all before you selected a cooked option. (and they wondered why I asked for just one poached egg!)
What makes Albertines so successful is the sincerity of Judi and Owen. They make you feel like you are staying at their home, not their business.
I highly recommend Albertines, and wish them every success for the future. I hope that we have the privilege to stay again in the not too distant future.

We left Albertines feeling we had witnessed a masterclass in the B&B experience. Owen and Judy have created a tasteful haven that inspires you to live a richer, creative life. How often does a getaway leave you feeling this way? Dinner at Provenance the first night was excellent. On the second night, wanting to soak up the beautiful atmosphere, we bought a selection of cheese, sourdough bread, terrine and prosciutto and Owen presented it beautifully to us by the fireside with a glass of wine. Perfect. Celebrating thirty years together called for something special. Beautifully appointed at every turn, with hosts who strike the perfect note, Albertines sets the bar very high indeed.
