“Comfort and friendliness is abundant in this extremely lovely bed and breakfast.”
Reviewed 16 November 2013

This is the third time we have returned to this beautifully presented cosy and warm bed and breakfast since I discovered it on a weekend away with my 80 year old Mum. It is one of the best bed and breakfasts I have ever visited. Gary is a wonderful host and is mindful of the needs of my elderly parents (dad comes too now as we are there annually for a family reunion ) and provides a wonderful tasty breakfast suitable for all ages and tastes. It is generous with great choices including tasty jams on fresh bread. Each room (we have slept in each of them now) are perfectly presented and the beds very comfortable. The breakfast / sitting room has a beautiful fire and your own coffee and tea making facilities and has a lovely view into the beautiful garden. Gary is very knowledgeable about the local area and its history and if you ask him is extremely happy to share his knowledge with you. Only a few hundred metres from the town you can park the car and amble about all weekend. I highly recommend this perfect bed and breakfast.

Room Tip: All three rooms are wonderful.

What a gem. Gary was the perfect host. Knowledgeable and funny at the same time. The Gold Room was excellent with everything you could ask for. Yes the TV is small, but we didn't go there to watch TV and the one in the sitting room is large. The sitting room was wonderful with the fire that Gary so kindly lit for us while we were at dinner. Breakfast was amazing : homemade bread and preserves ! A great location, walking distance to town. Will we go there again ! Of course !!

I have just returned from Beechworth where we stayed at the gorge walk B&B. The rooms were very well appointed, warm and comfortable. Very relaxing to sit in a comfy chair in the sitting room in front of the wood fire. Very informative hosts with a wealth of local knowledge.

Lovely B & B. People were friendly without being 'in your face'. Rooms very clean and tidy. Beds nice and firm. We had breakfast in the sitting room which was prepared really nicely for us each morning with homemade jams, bread is to die for (also homemade). Fairly central location with just a block or two to the town centre. Owner took us up to their other self contained accommodation 5 km. out of town which has the best view ever !

Room Tip: 2 of the rooms had king beds and 1 had queen , other than that the only difference is the color sche...

Jill was very welcoming. The room itself (gold room) was fine.
Breakfasts were great.
Quiet location.

One gripe: the TV is absolutely tiny. The screen size is no more than 15" - That's the size of a laptop scree!. It's practically impossible to enjoy watching tv unless you sit no more than a meter from the screen. The screen is located on the "table" which is at least 4 meters from the bed headboard. I peeked into another room and it also had the same size tv.

Other than that, this is a nice place to stay and I recommend it.

We are new to the bed and breakfast concept. I assumed that it is just a simpler form of accommodation but in Beechworth it is a much more intimate form of accommodation where the terms 'host' and 'hostess' actually play a part. The difficulty is reaching the right degree of intimacy and Gary and Jill have struck this balance perfectly. We previously stayed at a more luxurious establishment where the atmosphere was a little too gracious but at the Gorge Walk it was perfect. The room was very comfortable, the open fire (stoked by Gary) was very homely and the breakfast very palatable. Gary had great ideas for excursions and routes and Jill came into her own after we had left and were wanting to stay another night in the area. She found us a bed at her other property - The Vision Splendid - which has a vista which defies description. We felt extremely well looked after. Highly recommended.

The location of this B&B is excellent - within easy walking distance of the main street and opposite The Gorge with its wonderful walks. The owner, Garry, is very friendly and obliging (we didn't see so much of his wife, Jill) and knowledgeable about the local area. There are about six bedrooms and all are a good-size. When we were told we would be staying in The Rose Room, we imagined lots of doilies and fake flowers and tizzy bed linen, but the furnishings are quite restrained. Our king-size bed was actually two beds pushed together, but that was fine by us and we were comfortable. The room has a neat en suite and a French door that opens to a patio area. Facilities include a reverse-cycle air-conditioner, E/C blankets, a small TV, a couch, a kettle (tea/coffee/cups) and a small table and chairs. You could choose to have breakfast in your room, but we chose to have it in the guest lounge room, warmed by the wood heater. Our only criticism is that it was a little noisy. You can occasionally hear guests in the next room, and cyclists taking part in a race the weekend we stayed got up early and stomped around in their cleats. Despite this, we considered the Gorge Walk B&B terrific value and would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: As for one of the two that have French doors to the back garden/patio; they get the most light.
