“Everything you need for a camping holiday!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 February 2014

Loved our stay at the campsite over the new years eve/new years period. The staff organised an entertainer for NYE and a very affordable dinner to keep it hassle free for guests. The unpowered sites served our needs well, and we were able to escape the technological, powered world...exactly what we needed! The shop on site had everything we could have needed, the hosts provided firewood for our campsite fire (for a small fee), kids were well entertained by the playground and pool. All in all a very relaxing stay. Many thanks to the hosts for making it easy!

We were booked in Lake Eppalock Holiday Park for two nights (the second being NYE) and it was just so bad we left at 5am after one night and drove to Beechworth Holiday Park, where we were booked in for Jan 1 and 2. Despite it being NYE and the camp being full, the owners let us go and find a spot in the unpowered section of the site (our booking was for powered). We were just delighted to have somewhere to camp after the Lake Eppalock shambles (I can't find them on Tripadvisor to review). The place we set up was so superb we decided to stay there and forego the powered site after day one. We were 10m from a little babbling brook, across which is a 2km walk into Beechworth town through the old mining country where you can see into a bunch of old mine shafts. The walk and the campsite are brilliant. On our first evening a koala climbed down from a tree immediately adjacent our tent and ambled into the woods, across a log on the brook. the next morning a 1.5m tall grey kangaroo bounded through the edge of the campsite and stopped 5m from us, and stayed there looking at us for about two minutes. I just couldn't believe it. After nine years living in Australia (and having camped all the time), I'd never seen wildlife like this.

On NYE the owners organised a big hot beef roll dinner and a local musician to come and play music for a couple of hours. It was remarkable.

Facilities are fine. Camp kitchen is great. Open fires in barrels as welcome (cold up the mountains!), and Beechworth is amazing.

Our best time in a campsite in Australia, bar none, although helping us out on a desperate NYE helped. Everything works out for a reason. Thanks guys!

Room Tip: If you're camping, opt for unpowered and set up near the brook. You're almost completely sep...

A pleasure having you here thank you for staying with us. I think your experience really is the type holiday we want people to enjoy a mixture of bush and quiet relaxing times to recharge the batteries.

We only discovered this brilliant Holiday Park about 3 years ago and now it is one of our favourtite places in the world. You wouldn't get to meet to many friendlier hosts than Brett and Kim and they will do anything within their power to make your stay as happy as possible, you feel like an old friend when they greet you back each year. We can't recommend this park highly enough, the minute you drive in, you feel instantly relaxed and as my wife said, feel like you are almost at home. The park facilities are great and the camp kitchen is an especially favourite place for us to eat and relax. You also get the added bonus of having an australian fauna park right at your door step with koalas, echidna's etc... On New Years Eve, Brett and Kim put on a roast for the whole park and have a singer / guitarist play near the camp kitchen, it creates a great family environment and is a great / safe way to bring in the New Year. It is a place where you know your children can play safely in the pool or in the great playground (or like our son this year, learning to ride his bike for the first time) The only bad part about the park is when you have to leave, we already can't wait until next Christmas / Newyear holidays. Cheers Dave & Lis

We stayed for 1 week in peak time between christmas and new year. Brett and Kim who run the park are so friendly it was sad to leave. They could not do enough to make your stay better. Whilst its an old park with old facilities, they could not be cleaner. Everything you need is there or they will help you find it. For the new year they cooked up a spit and charged those that wanted to join in $5 plate. Entertainment by way of a singer/guitarist was also provided to help see the new year with lots of fun. Facilities for the kids is great with go karts and bikes, swings, slides, cricket pitch, pool etc. Being a small park, you are made to feel like one of the family.
We would not hesitate to recomend this park to anyone, especially those with small children that want to be able to sit back and watch their children play. There was just the two of us and yet where we camped was quiet and you could just sit back under the trees and relax.
Thanks again to Brett and Kim.

We have two small boys and went with another family with small children. The site was a nice size not to big. We had a lovely time and really relaxed. The kids had an awesome time and we were able to give them a bit more freedom than we would have at a bigger site. The owners were really lovely and friendly and very helpful.
We will definitely be back for another visit!
Seeing the local wildlife was a bonus kids loved the fact we had Koala's in the tree opposite our tent. :-)

My son, wife and I stayed on a powered site. The owner met us at the site to assist with preparing the van. He had a tv cable plugged in before i had even exited the car. Wonderful hosts, and a great bush setting made for a great three days. Heaps for kids to do, pool and best thing ever at a caravan park, cricket nets. A great small rural park. Highly recommend.

Steven
