Candlebark Retreat is a great winter getaway: Nothing is too much trouble for the hosts.
Staying for three nights afforded us the opportunity to absorb the serenity and explore our environs. Kookaburras, wrens and parrots welcomed us and awakening to a cacophony of birds was so relaxing. You can't get better than Candlebark Retreat.
The best mattress we've ever slept on (more comfortable than home)! Great heating and a well-appointed kitchen make it the perfect weekend.
Location-wise you can't do better than the shopping & pubs/cafes at Beechworth - a five minute drive, Woolshed Falls, Yackandandah, Stanley, El Dorado: Candlebark Retreat is central to everything.
Looking forward to regular visits.

Candlebark Retreat is a beautiful cottage situated just outside of Beechworth. It is peaceful and has stunning views of the vista. Excellent place for a getaway. Fleur and Digby were great hosts. The cottage feels like you are visiting a friend's place. Homely and cozy.

A lovely clean getaway cottage, set up to make you feel at home (unlike the sterility of most motels). Fleur was a wonderful host and took our request into consideration gladly. A gorgeous place to chill out and relax and if you want to do the touristy things in Beechworth etc, you are not far away. Recommend it highly!

Candlebark Retreat was exactly what we were after for a weekend away. It is very pretty, comfortable, clean and peaceful. The cottage felt very homely with interesting decor and plenty to keep us busy- a full bookshelf and lovely selection of local wines! Unfortunately our stay was not long enough to make use of the gorgeous walks throughout the property and cosy fire pit. Fleur was very welcoming but did not intrude on our privacy in any way. We hope to be back soon and have already recommended this retreat to our friends!
