“Lovely stay”
Reviewed 17 January 2014

My wife and I stayed one night on 4 Jan 14. Beautifully maintained bed and breakfast with charming owner and great breakfast (including locally made products). A very nice place to stay. Great base for exploring Dunkeld which has a surprisingly large number of great food places and for heading up into the Grampians for spectacular bushwalks.

We had a wonderful one night stay at this Bed and Breakfast. From the moment you arrive, its made feel like home. You have a beautiful room which is very spacious along with a lovely en-suite. Eda and her husband are very welcoming and are willing to spend time and high-light areas of interest for traveling around the Grampians. There is no need for a tourist office stop with Eda around. She told us about beautiful drives and wildlife to look out for on our way to Halls Gap. Also she provided us with a simple but excellent map that we used on our whole trip. Should be noted the tourist office in Halls gap said we needed nothing else but that for our journey :)

The views from this b&b are amazing and the breakfast was just perfect. It is Continental but beautiful, fresh bread, spreads, coffee, great selection of teas and the most beautiful yogurt to accompany your cereal or fruit. Also her advice on where to eat around Halls Gap was perfect, so thank you.

If we are every traveling that way again we will be back, and most certainly be telling our friends about it.

My partner and I booked 2 nights accommodation at the Grampians View Bed and Breakfast last weekend. We got a friendly phone call from Eda on the day of our arrival, who apologised she would not be able to greet us but had the room ready for us (much earlier than expected) and told us to make ourselves at home.

The room was fantastic. It was very clean and cosy with fresh milk in the fridge for our tea and coffee, comfy leather chairs in the corners of the room, and an endless supply of fresh Country Living and Vogue magazines. Not to mention that all of the rooms had an incredible view of the southern end of the Grampians.

Breakfast was simple yet fulfilling. Each morning Eda would have fresh bread, butter and other condiments set out on the table with fresh copies of the daily papers. She also served (what tasted like) homemade fresh fruit pour over with our Grampians Coconut and Vanilla flavoured yogurt. We topped this with her many cereals and muesli.

As we were finishing up our last breakfast, Eda also offered us two dozen free range eggs from her hens. Eda was an exceptionally attentive and hospitable host who was always there to lend a hand, whether it was offering us torches for our walk to the Royal Mail or offering to pick us up if we'd had a little too much to drink!

Thank you for a pleasant and relaxing stay. We will definitely be visiting again.

Found the owner, Eda, to be exceptionally welcoming and helpful. However, we were a little disappointed with the accommodation. The bedroom itself was quite small although the en-suite was large. The breakfast was fine although certainly not "gourmet" as advertised. Overall, reasonable value for money and within walking distance of the Royal Mail Hotel for dinner.

Dear John_ivycottage,

Thank you for your review, our first!!

I'm very happy to hear we made you feel welcome on arrival. After our guests have had a long days travel its important to us that you are warmly greeted and made to feel welcome.

Your right our en-suites are a great size but I was a little surprised to hear you thought the room was quite small. Remember if you don't want to sit on the chairs provided in your room, your welcome to use the guests lounge and of course the chairs out on the verandah with their mountain views.
I'm sorry you didn't find our breakfast Gourmet enough for you so I've tweaked it. I'm hoping that as we only serve a continental breakfast (I'm a terrible cook) the 7 breakfast cereals on offer (including gluten free), 2-3 types of bread (plus gluten free if needed), bottled fruit, Grampians Pure Sheep Diary Yoghurt (very gourmet), fresh juice, coffee and the 20 types of tea available will get me over the line!
P.S. I love the photo of the Bocce balls on the Bocce court with the mountains in the background!
