“Lovely hotel”
Reviewed 9 April 2014 via mobile

I wish I could stay in more hotels like this for business purposes. Lovely room and fantastic food and drink too. Really nice little touches around the place in terms of decor. I'm thoroughly looking forward to the breakfast that's about to arrive at my table. The ducks outside were a little noisy this morning but that's not a bad way to wake up. I hope that I have to return.

I have recently walked the Test Way, we stopped here kn our second night. The Inn looks like it has recently be decorated to a very high standard, with some clever ideas such as a deli for the locals. The room was very clean and tidy with a really large bed. They only had posh teapig tea bags in the room which was a little disappointing after walking all day. We made up for it by tasting some of the fine real ales they had on offer.

When it came to dinner they were too full to fit us in, that was probably our faukt for not booking. This was certainly made up for at breakfast.

All in all it was a fab b&b with fab views and very friendly, helpful staff. Would certainly recommend it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review us here at the BVI, I am so glad that everything was too your liking including our selection of real ales, you will always find names like Upham and Ringwood on our bar, we like to support local breweries!

We hope to be able to welcome you back soon, and hopefully you will be able to try our menu then too!

The staff are very helpful and pleasant, and the ambience is quite good. It is a pity that this pub serves main courses which are approaching the nouvelle cuisine style, which results in smallish portions with very little vegetable.

Thank you for taking the time to review the BVI. I am so glad that the service and pub were up to standard on the time of your visit, although I am terribly sorry to hear that the food was not to your liking.

We have recently changed our menus and food and would much appreciate it if you would come back and give us another go, we hope to see you soon!

Clean, comfortable, warm and cosy room. Place has got a really pleasant, welcoming atmosphere. Hope to get a chance to dine there next time. The only downside is the fact that breakfast isn't served till 7:30 a bit late if you have to set off early for business. Still would highly recommend.

Stayed for two very pleasant nights at The Bourne Valley Inn, it's a lovely boutique Pub B&B, we got a deal from Secret Escapes so it was a very reasonable £75 a night with breakfast, what's good is if you don't want drive it's a short cab ride from Andover or Whitchurch which are an hour on the train from Waterloo
Food was great - if a little pricey, but there were bar snack options, or you could walk to one of the other pubs in the village for a change, the valley is beautiful and the village is chocolate box pretty, if you like walking (and let's face it there isn't much else to do apart from eat, drink and relax) the whole valley is cris-crossed with signposted paths (get a free map from the village shop) or you can just sit by the log fire and read newspapers
Staff were very friendly and helpful
Our only niggle was our room - 4 was above the kitchen with a noisy extractor but it wasn't on through the night so not an issue worth bringing up at the time- I would have asked to change if it was

The rooms were wonderful as was the evening meal. Good choice of local food, homemade delights and range of drinks. However we were disappointed that breakfast was not served and no one present for us to check out despite agreeing this the evening before. Lovely place though apart from this glitch.

Just had Sunday lunch, sitting in the bar area, reading the papers, fire going - you get the picture. I have to say that apart from taking longer than seemed necessary to bring the desserts as it was late on and the place had cleared out, everything else was perfect. So often you go somewhere for Sunday lunch and it's close but not quite right. However, Bourne Valley Inn did a great job. (can't you put the same menu into the Yew Tree?)

Definitely recommended
